its still bad form for the owners to take the tips. you dont tip a business, you tip the servers for their service. even in a friggin bar its highly unprofessional for the bartender who also happens to be the owner to accept your tips.

Yeah, that's just it. If you are going to pay your employees enough so that they don't need to work for tips, you at least let the people coming in know that they don't need to tip. You don't take the tips which are people intend to go to the waitstaff and just pocket it.

I watched a few episodes of this show but every show is almost identical. He comes in, eats their food and makes fun of it, then yells at them for shitty food and then goes right into shitting his pants about how the kitchen isn't clean enough. Then he gets into a fight with somebody, remodels the restaurant, changes the menu, they have the big re-opening, more yelling, rinse, repeat.

Have not watched that episode, but I have watched plenty of them and if this one is different it is the exception to the rule.

i'll teach you guys something about yelp. Scroll all the way down on the reviews and see where it says "## filtered", these are reviews that the yelp algorithm has deemed to either be too good or too bad or just fake. Click on it and you'll see all the reviews. Of course for this type of exposure there will be tons of filtered reviews, also stuff that is too verbally abusive get's the automatic boot. I could go into detail about how the yelp algo is messed up and is essentially just a way for yelp to extort money from business owners. (if you register your business with yelp, they could send you an email like, you have low reviews we could help that... and they would let a few of the higher rated reviews go through and filtering more lower rated reviews to bump up the score)

Now we cannot use this yelp rating as an issue, cuz ... haterz gonna hater, ha it's got internet exposure so it's gonna be flooded, but just look at any of your local restaurants and scroll down and look at the filtered reviews, you'll see a lot of them seem valid.

btw if you read most the new reviews, you'll see that they get a 5 star rating and bad mouth the restaurant, that's how they get the comment to stick, lol.

Yelp can suck a dick as far as I'm concerned. I did 2 reviews a long time ago, negative ones, about places I ate at (the one I recall I ended up with the plastic sticker that tomatoes often have, inside my burrito, and my sister ended up with a piece of red plastic (!) in her taco). It's been a few years, so I don't recall exactly, but they were removed for being "fake" or some shit. And they weren't. Shitty site is shitty.

This episode was golden though. You think people like this can't really exist but... they do. Oh, and the owner is apparently from Israel, according to the waitress doing the AMA.

Yeah the episodes are all the same, come on, not one of these restaurants has ONE fucking dish that Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvine or whoever actually like? It is ALL just shit? That is why I thought it had to be a setup. But seriously, check this one out. It is totally different and it appears to be on the level, at least somewhat.

Most of these restaurants wouldn't be having problems if their food was good. Most of the places they go to have outdated menu's or just plain shitty food.

It's illegal to take tipped employees tips under federal labor laws. All that really matters is that the customers have a reasonable expectation that their tip is going to the employee (the employee's title and hourly wage don't matter).

jesus, their facebook page is getting broiled. what i found amazing is they promoted the kitchen nightmares episode. did they think when chef ramsay gave up on their place, something he has never done before in any other us, uk or aus show that they would be shown in a positive light? seriously?

In the UK version I found the episodes differ enough. Ramsay does find that he likes something on the menu in a good chunk of them or even everything in a few cases. It's a little formulaic in that there's only one reason a restaurant fails - they got no customers. Reasons why they got no customers is a grab bag from: menu, bad food, bad atmosphere, bad prices, bad service, bad marketing, bad management. In the UK version it does seem like effort is placed into fixing the particular flavor of problems that affect each restaurant. It does occasionally devolve into "let's paint everything white, narrow down the menu to 12 items, and make delicious food from fresh local ingredients prepared simply." Usually when that happens it's because the owners/ chef have no experience and no business being in the biz. At that point what else are you supposed to do? In the UK version it's probably a fifth of the episodes, which doesn't get too tedious.

You might have to wait a while. I've read that they've kept the restaurant closed since the episode aired, which is pretty stupid. There would definitely be a lot of people checking out the restaurant right now for nothing more than to see if it's really as bad as it was on TV.

More like trolling the fuck out of the restaurant.
