A movie about a 3rd or 4th tier Spidey villain isn't going to smash all the records?
Venom is also a major Spidey villain. The whole Sonyverse is pretty much shit turtles all the way down. Spider-Man has always had a massive roster of enemies, though. They have done all the A listers, and done them well, but after 20 years this wasn't the time to start spinning up new franchises when they can't use Spider-Man himself anymore. The villains and C tier Spiders can't carry anything on their own long term.Venom did okay.
Really? I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying that I am staring at you dubiously.Tarzan movies are usually pretty popular.
I had a part time job at a book store in my early 20s. The "Tarzan" books are -REALLY- popular....with the ladies.Tarzan movies are usually pretty popular.

I didn't understand why he even climbed that tower, just to drop down and run away the second someone shot at him. That said, it was entertaining enough to keep my attention. Those 8 minutes were terrible, tbh. They don't even really show how he escapes the prison or does anything interesting to trick/beat the guards. He's just running around while storm-trooper-aim-guards shoot the ground next to him, than some cuts and he's magically outside running across the open field. Into that pointless cloud with the plane as well? Seems like there was some idea where he loses pursuers in a scary cloud they wont go into or something. But at that point, it seems he isn't even chased anymore? Nor was there ever a set-up for it?
For a fairly vanilla idea of "escape russian prison in siberia" they masterfully sidestepped any pretense of tension or storytelling.
That isn't 100% what he was after. Getting captured in the first place was part of his "hunt". But that wasn't learned until after he escapes the prison and the guards find a dead body belonging to the inmate he pretended to be in order to board the bus.For a fairly vanilla idea of "escape russian prison in siberia" they masterfully sidestepped any pretense of tension or storytelling.
