My mom was legitimately crazy, diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic and I dealt with her my entire life, minus a few years where she decided to completely disappear. I often was needed to restrain her. Never once did I "beat her up".

Do you actually believe the fictional narrative that exists in your head? This severe case of retardation you have is the one line of reasoning that concurs with you being female.
lol you take posts seriously on a shitposting forum, that's mental illness right there

It might shock you Mist Mist but typically being a complete piece of shit in the small "grown up stuff" section is frowned upon. Try not being a cunt.

I have nothing intelligent to add other than going to OU was probably the first, and worst mistake. Unless you were an SAE, then, we're brothers.

I will add that, as I'm sure you have encountered, there are a TON of former nurses out there that decided they didn't want to be a nurse and now LARP as middle management so there may be a degree of dissatisfaction with that career but idk

Okay, so, nursing can be a very lucrative and satisfying career once you find your niche. However, you have to be willing to "put in your time" and (literally) clean up shit on a med-surg floor for at least a year before you can move into a more specialized position. Unless you are one of those psychos that likes med-surg.

I worked on a med-surg floor for one year, moved over to an acute inpatient rehab hospital for 3 months (got termed at my 90 day for "not being a good fit"), then went into home health for 8 months, and have been working in insurance since then. I make over six figures now; as much/more than what a family practice NP would make, although short of what one of the lucrative NP specialties like derm would make. Or a CRNA. It's decent enough work-life balance; I usually work around 41 hours per week, but I have also been selective in what positions I pick up and have always made it clear to my bosses that I work to live, not live to work.

CRNA is probably the best job in the entire country currently but I think it probably has a relatively longer path.

Yes. Typically to be a CRNA, you need at least 3 years of ICU nursing experience, which usually means at least a year of med-surg experience beforehand unless you're a total hotshot during nursing school and clinical rotations. CRNA school itself is usually a full 3 years/36 months.

My sister is a nurse and she said that male nurses are in high demand, because, well, they are male and can man handle more stuff.

Yes. If you are a male nurse, expect that you will always get called to move heavy patients up in bed and do all of the physical shit. You do not want to stay in med-surg long term if you have any shoulder or back issues. Last I checked (which admittedly was around a decade ago), RNs are 7th highest in terms of work-related injury among all jobs. CNAs are #2. I was starting to get shoulder impingement issues around 6 months in, and I was in my 20s at the time.

There are tools in hospitals that in theory allow you to more safely move patients like lifts, but in practice, don't expect to use them, because unless you are in a state like California with mandated staffing ratios, you don't have the time. Hospital administration won't back you up, because they'll say that they've done their piece by providing the equipment and giving you a 30-minute class on safe lifting mechanics.

On the flip side, male nurses usually are respected if you play the game and learn how to blend with women. I've had plenty of leadership-track doors open to me.

A Aevian if you have any specific questions about nursing, feel free to either ask in here or drop me a DM line. My TL;DR version is above, though. Basically it can be good, but there is going to be at least some front-end suffering. And longer-term suffering if you can't get "up and out" into whatever specialty you want. The saying in nursing is that "You'll always have a job, but you may not have the job you want."

Friend is a male nurse. He started in the ER. Then management and the state paid for him to get his PhD in nurse management. One of the things he wanted on moving into management was to be able to work enough to keep him up to date, license and such. That shit went into the black hole and he is a 100% paper pusher now.

His wife is a nurse practioner. They both say the same thing. Female nurses are there to eat junk food on breaks and get fat while they try to land a rich doctor lol. She works as a school nurse for a college. I'm sure she writes prescriptions for alot of birth control. My cousin did paperwork stuff for regulatory deals at a hospital and she landed a rich Dr. from the hospital and she's not fat. So who knows. I see a kink in their plan however.

OP don’t worry, med schools classes are majority female now. You will still have your shot at getting fat and trying to marry a lady doc!

If you go nurse you can do nursing on the road and pick up good money for short duration contracts. My friend and his girlfriend (before they were married) traveled around to pay off loans, they went to places he could work in a level 1 trauma unit in the ER or whatever it is called.

One place was D.C., she is a pediatrics nurse and a Saudi Prince wanted to add her to his harem to have her take care of all his kids. I bring it up when she does something my friend makes fun of. She has other options, he doesn't laugh.
