For those of you who aren't on a tight budget, the new razer blade is truly drool worthy.
Razers new Blade might be the perfect gaming laptop | The Verge

As someone who doesn't want to lug around a beast to game on the go, this is the most powerful. 14 inch, 4 lb laptop I have seen hands down. The price seems high except when you consider what you're getting in such a compact size. Whether it can truly deliver and keep high benchmarks without melting is yet to be seen. Last time I dropped 2k on a pc was a massive Alienware behemoth from like 2001, but this thing may give me the urge again.

Looks like a black Macbook Pro, which is a good thing, though things like the touch screen are meaningless to me so I'd prolly just buy the Macbook if I was going to that price range.

Except the MacBook Pro wouldn't game nearly as well and if gaming is the priority, I'd go with the razer.

How does someone who comes to this website notice things like a touchscreen over the goddamn nvidia gtx870m inside?

Razer's Blade has some gnarly reviews on Amazon, blue-screens, DOA hardware. Does it have heat issues?

Anyone on these boards own one?

Need a mobile gaming rig that I won't feel inclined to replace in 2 years.

I put together my own high end desktop it's like 50 pounds. Just looking for something to take on trips/GF's place etc that will run current games on max. ~2000 budget. Possibly used for streaming also.

^^^ On a ~$1,300 budget I bought a P150 with a GTX770M last June, installed Windows 7, and I've been very happy with it. But you can get a bit more with a $2,000 budget.

Anyway, the Clevo-based laptops are what you want, mainly because of the dedicated graphics, and there are several companies that offer them.

I use aSager17" as my primary computer, and I've had a good experience with it.

You probably need to spend close to a grand atleast if you want a gaming laptop futureproofed atleast 2 years, probably closer to 1500$.
I have an asus g46vw with a 660mx for less than a year and it is mostly enough but i do get some stuttering at 1080p on newer games. In another years time there will likely be some titles that will be unplayable at 1080p.
2k should easily be enough. If you want something portable, I'd definitely check out that blade after it gets fully reviewed.

There's a 17 laptop by aorus with sli 765m that is close to a 780m in performance but is quite a bit sleeker and lighter than any 780m laptops you'll find. Also worth checking out

Looking into getting a laptop soon, how doesthisMSI look? It has pretty much everything I want, the gtx870m especially sounds great. The only downside I can see is no SSD, but at that price I think it's still a good deal. Anything comparable or better for the same or less $$$?

I have a gt60 with a 780 and these models use one fan to cool the CPU/GPU. And that fan can get LOUD. Like jet engine loud. It's seriously louder than my wife's hair dryer. But it runs like a champ.

I understand they have to cut costs somewhere to get a price like this but dear god, 5400 rpm? Would be a bit more tolerable if the ssd was atleast large enough to put a couple games plus os but 24 gb is impractical.

I popped in an SSD to my Lenovo pretty much as soon as I got it. Quite easy to do and I imagine saves you money by going that way.

Anyone actually have this model? Was recently in the market to build a new desktop, but came to realize I really need a laptop for work to remote in when not at home. This thing looks like it could satisfy both needs for a very decent price.

If you go back through this thread I'm pretty sure this is the same laptop most Reroller's go nuts about when sales come about. Most people give it a thumbs up. It is a formidable gaming laptop with a good processor and a lot of RAM with a 1080p screen. Hard to complain about anything on it really other than the slow storage drive butyou can drop $60-90 on a 128 GB SSDand that'll alleviate that pain.

Well I did just as you said. Didn't expect so many past reviews about one particular laptop in this thread lol. Looks like I'm going to get the 4 or 510.

Yup, that's why I posted it. Guys around here seem to really like it. I'm tempted to get one since my laptop is finally taking a shit.

I dont understand why they dont just pop out an ssd version for an extra 60 bucks themselves. seems like it would sell pretty well

I'm sure there are a variety of reasons for not doing it (perhaps they're just heavy on inventory of this particular build and need to flush inventory, for instance, who fucking knows). But this is a fantastic laptop. If you take out the 4 reviews on NewEgg that aren't actually for this particular model it has 88 out of 88 reviews giving it 5 stars (fwiw). Really hard to complain with this laptop at this price. If you're in the market for a $1k laptop this would be a great choice.

Super tempted to buy one myself.
