There are alternatives for passive points and idol slots now. Dungeon bosses grant these in 1.2 as well. You do need to get to act 5 at least though so you can skip to the faction unlocks in act 9 by completing temporal Sanctum.

You also actually need to have a sanctum key, which took me until L71 on my first character. Really fucking sucks because it's still far easier and faster to get all the idols and passives following the same old leveling routine to act 7, but you're completely fucked if you wait that long for access to CoF/MG to start gaining favor.
Favor.is based on experience gain. You gain far more experience faster when you are lvl.50+, than you will going from Act 1 to 7.
Things may have changed, but you used to be able to choose CoF or MG on your alt within 30 mins of the campaign starting.
I'm not sure what more people want these days.
I guess we need to log into the game on a lvl 1 toom and be in the end game 10 mins after we get out of the char select screen?

So I'm getting close to L100 and going to actually do most of the content for once. Is the end game gearing basically find whatever uniques with LP or toss them in the egg and then imprint them with exalted items to upgrade and the other slots exalted gear?

I know how favor works, and I'm not sure what the rest of that response has to do with the problem I had.
I've played a bunch of characters using the campaign skip and I have never not had a sanctum key by the time I hit 55. On really powerful leveling builds (Falconer, etc.) I've done Julra as early as the low 40's. Getting to 71 without faction access is either the most insanely bad luck ever, or something drastically changed since the last time I played LE.
Edit: The online alt I made just hit 58 and hasn't seen a key yet either.

Then something changed, because you used to be able to join a faction on an alt before you hit lvl 6 to 10 by talking to an npc in one of the first areas.
No key was needed.

Why do you keep talking about alt access to factions when I'm talking about the first time through? I specifically said that my first character (which was offline) didn't get a key until 71, and then I made an online alt and I'm having the same problem again (currently mid-60's and still nothing).
This wasn't really meant to be some deep discussion, I was simply pointing out that the campaign skip isn't really a shortcut if you can't get a sanctum key to go with it. That's it.

Because I was assuming you were asking because you already had a lvl 71 and complaining about not getting a key to get to a faction earlier on a 2nd char.
Campaign skip is not meant for a first time play through. It's there as a mechanic to speed up your alt chars.

Most speedrunners still do it. The amount of favor you lose isn't that much compared to the early progression you can get which then means faster favor gains anyway so you catch up, and especially for merchant it puts you ahead of the pack to make more money early.
But yeah you're not really guaranteed a key for a while. I think I got mine off Lagon or so? Mono lagon that is, that's like 3rd mono so was around 70 too I think, not sure about the numbers. But like the amount of favor you'd gain from finishing the campaign normally then doing these 3 mono maps worth of xp is basically nothing anyway compared to empowered mono xp so it really doesn't matter. And being able to skip chapter 8 is nice, hate that fucking place.
Havent been playing too hard but lvl 85 and haven't had one disconnect so far.
Quick question for COF folks, what loot tables do the unique rewards roll from when you do prophecies? Example if i do a unique 2H axe prophecy can I get a world splitter as a reward? Or is it only gear that doesn't get dropped by a specific boss? Or is it like the rune of ascendance loot table?
