I'm going to be in London Oct 28-Nov 3 for the NFL game at Wembley. We have a group of six going and are looking to get an Airbnb. I know nothing about London. Never been. I know the area around Wembley sucks and we'll only be going that way for the game. What's a dope area? I see a TON of cheaper Airbnbs in the Shoreditch Park area but my impression of that hood from the reviews isn't positive. Now these might be cushy upper class people saying this shit because the hood might be a little grimey but it does make me cautious. What are your suggestions? Proximity to fast public transit is about the only requirement.

Shoreditch is quite the up and coming area. Lots of younger professionals live there. Friend and his wife just bought a house there.

The city smells like wet horse shit. You can get bootleg dvds on the other side of the bridge (opposite the business district).

There is a carnival / club area, forgot what its called, but I am sure someone on the forum knows the name / location. Its where you can "live it up".

Lots of cute polish girls. And some drink made with beer + cider + something . . .

Its been a long time since I was there, whenever that bus got blown up? That was day 2 or 3 of my time there. Room was 500/night, and the size of a closet.

Some good pubs in the business district tho.

Vinen acts like the Market St corridor between 5th St and 11th St is how the entire city smells.

It smells like urine. And very unsanitary homeless people.

I dunno. Problem has moved to Nob Hill also.
It's getting to the point that it's endemic to the down-town area.

Lies. I live in Nob Hill. Next door to the Fairmont Hotel. Don't act like the plebs that live on Sutter St are in Nob Hill. The homeless do not like elevation. It's a known fact in the city.

Shoreditch and East London in general are the most hipster part of London. Brick Lane is where the "cereal" cafe is, you might have heard of it.

I don't know what Shoreditch Park is like, from Google Maps it seems to be underneath a few council estates.

Alright I'm actually completely down with hipster neighborhoods. They always have dope restaurants and bars. If British hipster hoods are at all like American hipster hoods.

Shoreditch/East London has good nightlife - I guess it depends what you like.

EDM isn't a thing here, it's seen as a overly commercialised take on UK/eu dance music. Fabric in Farringdon is one of the most famous clubs in the world for proper dance music. Other spots in East with good line ups include The Nest and Xoyo.

Drugs are pretty standard at a dance venue, we don't call ecstasy/mdma "Molly", the powder form is referred to as "Mandy". Strength of mdma powder and pills is higher than it's ever been. There are occasionally dodgy pills/powder that are sold as mdma but aren't with potentially deadly side effects so if that's your thing then be careful.

The British dance scene also loves ketamine, not my thing.

Coke, I've only ever had coke as good as the stuff I had in nyc once in London. Generally speaking the coke here doesn't do anything except give a mild buzz.

On the radio the sports host went to London and said London hipsters are embracing like common American as their culture where they like to drink super cold American light beers.

We ended up getting a place close to Elephant & Castle. Pretty far from that hipster hood. Guess the neighborhood is called Walworth?

You gotta check out Camden town. I mean, it's a dive, and is full of wankers, but you know, it's gotta be done. Shoreditch is way brills though, as long as you like latte sippin' Mac usin' 'tache curlin' hipsterfags. Which is why I fit in so perfectly... Also, south bank is pretty cool, specially at night. There's generally some kinda Euromarket going on with overpriced food and all that. Near to that is Borough market, which is also brills if you dig foody stuff.

I've never heard of this term "brills". May need to add that one to my lexicon.

Swing by The Pig and Butcher for dinner. Place was fantastic, we went for a Sunday roast but the stand out by far was the rabbit pate. Fucking delicious.

Our Airbnb was in Camden but the tubes make getting around easy as hell.

London is huge so you'll have a different time depending on the district you go to.

Despite being a native I've only visited once and went to the Westminister area, that is where Big Ben/Buckingham Palace/London Eye from the movies are, I had a good time.

Also make sure that you check out the British Museum, it's where we keep the loot. I especially enjoyed the Syrian "sphinxes" and giant cuneiform tablets which ISIS was destroying while I was there, much more impressive than the Egyptian versions. Rosetta Stone is cool too.

I've heard that the Tower of London is a hellhole full of tourists so you can't move.
