Character creation didn't seem too much different to me? I dunno how to play with all the knobs tho.
I started a new character to see if they’ve made any changes in the starting area up until the first Pieta boss. I mean, I get that they want to make it more accessible to new players, but I think they went a bit too far. The game is crazy easy now—they’ve reduced monster density even further, the village area feels almost like a ghost town, and Pieta is now reduced to mini-boss difficulty.

I think Pathfinder WoTR got it right as the "core difficulty" setting and not recommending it to new players.

This game should have that and appropriate achievements (armor dyes per boss too? somethin?)

I didn't think any of it was THAT hard in its initial form tbh after you ran the areas a time or two

Either way, it's fuckin sick and they have the ability to invade individual players so you know those DEI investor types are ripping their fucken hair out over MLG bro dawg invasion gaming

Agreed. As of now, you have to complete the game to be able to choose the original monster density for your next playthrough. I guess NG+ is the new NG difficulty now.

It wasn't; it was just fine and should have been left alone.

It gets even worse. I used a low-level character created before 2.0 for this 2.0 test run. I see now that when you create a new character from scratch, they offer you the Advanced Game Modifiers option right from the start. On the upside, that means you can choose to have the original monster density from the beginning—but it's the original launch density.

They also offer the option to automatically fully upgrade every single non-boss weapon when it drops, which is absolutely ridiculous to have on your first playthrough.

It's pretty easy at the start but definitely gets harder. I'm at level 65 and at 4 bosses in.

It's not Elden Ring difficulty but Elden Ring was also relatively much easier in the beginning.

BTW, it's really good XP if you coop / babysit a friend that's like 30 levels lower. You get the XP for killing their bosses. It definitely scales the higher level player down a bit, but you still dunk on their invaders. 😅

I just picked it up after Nija Nija posted it was on sale. Figured I'd give it a run after Cyberpunk. I honestly don't mind the fact if the game is easier because I'm getting older.

What is that supposed to be? I really have no clue about most of the systems or weapons and stuff pan out within the game.

Basically a souls game. Upgrading weapons, shields, ranged weapons or spell talismans with ore chunks. It's very well done esp their takes on block (and wither damage), parry, poise posture and all that. I will definitely get LoTF2 and eventually finish out the endings on this one.

Dude I'm excited about playing it, and I'm not very good at these types of games, I know you guys have been complaining about it being a lot easier, but the game hasn't seen DrRetarded's levels of horribleness.....✊🏻

There's still a good number of things that will bite you in the ass and take a couple attempts. Really the decrease in pain was the number of archer enemies, but in some areas even the reduced number will give you some grief.

If you like souls games, I cannot imagine you'd be unhappy with this one. I liked it before they did the whole body type 1/2 poll and rebellion against the industry too.

Do yourself a favor. At least TRY the starting area with the "Increase enemy density" advanced modifier activated. Enemy density has now been reduced too much in certain areas.
It really changes the feel in those cramped zones—especially in the swamp area, where before you felt hunted all the time. And don't worry, trash mobs don't hit as hard as they used to, and their HP has also been reduced.

Edit: It's the enemy density from the 2023 release. Some found it a bit overbearing in places. Still, I prefer the 2023 enemy density over the present version. And since trash mobs are more trivial now, a higher density gives you more loot and vigor, beefing you up a bit extra for those later boss encounters—hopefully giving you an edge if you're feeling a bit rusty in your Soulslike skills.

I’ve been digging into everything known about the upcoming sequel to the 2023 Lords of the Fallen, and here’s what’s been confirmed so far:

Sequel Overview

  • Tentative Title: No official title confirmed yet. Some sources mention Death of the Fallen as a working name, but it’s not finalized.
  • Release Date: Slated for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store exclusive).
  • Exclusivity Note: CI Games has signed a binding agreement with Epic Games, making the game exclusive to the Epic Games Store on the PC platform for the entire product life cycle. In other words, it won’t be coming to Steam or any other PC storefront in the unforeseeable future.

Art Style Shift

  • While the 2023 game embraced a heavy dark fantasy aesthetic, the upcoming sequel is shifting toward a more “commercial” and “inviting” visual style, aiming for broader appeal. The devs also hinted at more "westernized storytelling." This means less gritty dark fantasy—though we’ll have to wait for trailers or concept art to see how that plays out.

Development Timeline

  • The sequel entered full production in 2024, with CI Games and Hexworks confirming the project is well underway. Despite the 2026 target (more likely 2027) , the game is being developed over about 2.5 to 3 years with a 200+ person team including internal staff and co-devs, compared to the 2023 game, which had a smaller team (~75–100 people).

Can't say I'm overjoyed at the moment. A big wad of cash from Epic bought exclusivity, and then there's the change in art style and storytelling. Nirgon Nirgon , what's your impression?

I hope they go with core mode for vets and normal (recommended) tbh. You cant appeal to the hardcores and ppl who dont want the most brutal experience possible at the same time.

Hoping the ability to get invaded or invade ppl without a co-op (or usually 2 like elden ring) remains a thing.

They seem trust worthy enough but I will never be preordering anything again after BG3.

I can't be the first to dub this genre as such, but here it is:

Dad Souls. This is the Dad Souls genre. And I'm completely okay with it, as I can actually play and progress starting at 9:30pm after being wiped out at practice and so forth after working all day.

Bunch of good builds on YouTube. Gonna try this one which starts being accessible fairly early:

This also looks pretty insane but needs different stats:

Definitely a fun and worthwhile game that I agree with “Dad Souls” as a descriptor. The online builds are a little silly because so many of them are maxed and totally reliant on multiples of drops you only get once a playthrough. My first playthrough was bow/dual axe and then I did a greatsword/radiance build.
