Problem is Sorc feels mana starved already so if you take the shield you basically just wait for mana to come back up everytime you get hit. Unless maybe you get a mana regen engraving but that's kinda eh.

Shadowhunter does get small heals constantly if you're transforming yeah, you heal on transformation, then when it ends it does some weird ass math to give you back your hp(demon form has +hp) and it seems to give you more than what you had, so it has pretty good over time sustain. If I'm not getting assraped I can end fights at full hp even though I did get hit by chip dmg here and there which is nice.

Gunlancer has a ton of shields, especially blue spec, that you can usually not lose actual hp and just shields.

Zerks don't have self heals but they have insane mitigation if you have the card sets in Mayhem spec, and they heal to full with the green potions so that's nice.

And obviously every class has potions. You can slot different types of consumables that give hp too, for example you can have the standard potion, but also timestop potions(invuln for 3secs, good to dodge mechanics) or protective potion(15% shield for a few secs) although these are exclusive, and you can also have campfires which provide hp/mp regen to everyone around, not too sure if it works in combat though.

- If you're looking for a game which revolves around maxing out a single character and playing just that character (without interacting with others), Lost Ark is not for you. If you enjoy switching pace and characters, Lost Ark may be ok for you.
Agree with most of your other points but not this one. There is a fuck ton of content that can be done solo in this game. Definitely not efficient going solo, but it is doable and enjoyable if you're not in a hurry to get to the endgame.

I couldn't care less how you play but to pretend that the game isn't designed around alts being needed is moronic. Could you just play a main do it that way? Yes, yes you could. You can also drive a car with your feet. That doesn't make it a good fucking idea retard.

Heres something interesting. Theyre giving away so many mats right now, that my g/f - who just unlocked Guardians/Chaos etc. is almost tier 2. Without even touching an island, much less has she finished Shushire yet. Then, when she does get tier 2 - she'll still have the opportunity to purchase all of those mats. If anything, right now is probably the perfect time to join the game/transfer servers. The amount of time I spent getting to the point she's at, took me wayyyyy more time.

Playing solo is fine and without being harsh - you really should at least do your free power passes. There is a lot of time gated content in this game that is locked to individual characters. Use your power passes, then use those alts to complete una's and then log back on your main. Chaos, Guardians, etc. is something you can skip if you want to. But having your Una's finished up means you have not only more island souls and all the shit that comes along with them, but more emotes to do rapport, more virtue stats to do rapport etc. and that alllllll leads back to things like Skill Points etc. Never mind the long grind Una's that unlock ships that'll make your life a lot more enjoyable. It takes me all of 5 minutes (maybe 10 on the realllly shitty Una's like Goblin Island or Facility X-301) to do on each character.

The endgame is also designed around grouping and raiding. But there is a ton to do before that is required. It's a huge game and most of you have hundreds of hours in. Different game after you've invested that much time.

Fuck your attitude.

All of that is very valid and good advice for later in the game. And if you are being efficient, the sooner the better. It's a very deep game, there is a ton to do.

A significant part of the reason why the game is having the success it's having is due to all the content available. Every other MMO releases with fuck all to do and promising that the game starts at max level. With that being said, the guy is asking whether or not he's going to enjoy the MMO based on his previous detrimental experience with an upgrade system. I'm like, the number one supporter of Lost Ark there is and have quite a bit of the horizontal progression you're talking about completed (I actually enjoy a fair chunk of it) but it would be disingenuous for me not to point out that, in so far as the honing system is concerned, focusing on one main character (as is someone's preference) is going to hold you back significantly. I'll note that I'm running 3 separate accounts, totaling 11 characters in T3 and I can easily run out of materials if I funnel to one character. If I was playing a single character, there is no way I would be able to obtain my current gear score, short of massive whaling. Thus, while you're allowed to focus on the positive of the game (the metric fuckton of content and shit to do) I disagree that anyone shouldn't be warned that going into the game asking about the honing system shouldn't be warned that you're pretty much expected to play multiple characters to achieve progress.

In my current setup assuming I don't miss skills, it takes 7seconds to get into demon form(basically just need to dump all my skills but they have somewhat slow animations), and demon form seems to last about 35seconds. I healed about 20k hp out of my 77k hp when I entered demon form. I didn't heal at the end, I thought you did but it's just the health bar readjusting I guess, I checked the numbers this time.

So it won't like let you sit into fire shit and survive, but it heals a bit over time giving you sustain when other classes have none. Pretty much heal ~20% hp every 45seconds. Missing skills or having to do mechanics in human form means it might take longer. Can use awakening to compensate for missed skills assuming it doesn't miss too, obviously 5mins cd so can't spam it.

Note however that you don't really reach the "1 rotation demon form" until T3. Even T2 with my pretty good stuff I couldn't do it. In T2, assuming you have ok wealth runes and you pick your gear well, it takes around 15 to 20secs to get into demon form. You basically have to hit demon clone and demon grip twice(so they have to cooldown). I think with the proper setup in T2, just demon clone would be enough so ~12secs. It's still pretty good.

The class however doesn't really have much finesse or interesting things going on. You dump all your skills in human form and pray the boss doesn't move out of them, then you press Z and then you just mash all the buttons as they light up. That's basically it. It's fun imo and the skills are very satisfying to use in demon form, but it is very simple.

Thank you for the detail!

I'm definitely looking for something other than Paladin. I was digging it early on but just a taste of group content has got me very 'meh'. It's just way too simple buff botting. I'm looking hard at all the classes and can't make up my mind.

Paladin seems to be more tactical than just dumping cool downs like other classes but I dunno enough, that's just my sense of it.

The only answer to all class questions is Gunlancer. Want to pump out dmg, ignore mechanics, never die and feel like a god? Gunlancer.

What spec are you running? I get the survive part but the DPS is lacking for my Gunlancer.

Still doing mostly the same as before with some tweaking. Not an expert and still learning daily.

View attachment 402174

Doing the Blue Knight thing myself (Combat Readiness), so stacking Specialization and some crit. Get a lot of dps from all the blue basic attacks.

Somewhat following these two:

I have two presets that are the same except for swapping Nellasia's Energy and Dash Upper Fire. Depends if I need to have a cure/shield/speed boost or not vs. the counter. 90% of the time I run counter instead of the cure, but the cure is an awesome tool. Learning to counter changes the game really. You push out so much more dps.

This is different than the guide tho that wants you to always slot both. Instead I add Shield Shock into both. From there it's just building tripods and runes around that. I put bleed runes on my first and 3rd skill in rotation to keep constant dmg going and then throw in the bursts every 20-30 seconds and refresh shield. Takes a while to get use to swapping in and out of combat readiness to rebuild shield but that's just practice. I have 'Z' mouse bound which helps.

My rotation is: Shield Bash^2, Bash, Shield Shock^2 and lots of basic attack which turns into a machine gun with rage runes.

Dash Upper Fire for counter or extra dps if needed.

Off CD use Thunderbolt for dps and Shout of Hated for taunt and shield recharge. If you are confident of mechanics you can stay out of shield for a bit to build extra shield meter but rarely do I find myself having to. Timing your shout is just practice.

I use Shield Charge for mobility and add Leap Attack if needed but usually with good taunts you can just leap in their face for dps.

100% of any build tho is going to be getting the right skills, gems, runes, engravings, etc to work together to fit your muscle memory. I pretty much follow the guide for that except for shield shock and a couple rune changes.

This is not perfect, I'm sure. I think a lot of everyone's play-style and build is going to be based on what they are comfortable with. My old hands like the slower/steady rotation and the stand in one spot most of the time play-style.

I still feel like I have a long way to go and a lot to learn, which I like about the game. I'm open to tips and tricks.
