Lost Ark Online

This PVP tournament has been pretty great to watch. You might think the PVP is bad for whatever reason but its definitely not unbalanced. It made me realize some of the mistakes I was making besides just being complete ass.

So many different classes used and combinations used. Though clearly Paladin could use a bit of a nerf, but even then it doesn't seem absolutely required and it doesn't fit in every comp.

This was retarded to link. I knew he was going to push the P2W argument because that's what he does but after the first 4 minutes:

1) You play video games to escape the P2W that is real life.
2) If you're born in Sweden you have a life P2W advantage.
3) If you're a good looking white guy you're abusing RL P2W.

...Just to be clear, yes, there's a $45 version of the pass. This grants you amazing shit like extra wallpapers. That pass is purely cosmetic in extra rewards. It doesn't require a long-winded Youtube video about how video games exist so that Timmy the railroad builder can escape the evils that capitalisms has created because he wasn't born with the same advantages that the white guy next door got because he isn't a socially awkward loser like Timmy. It can be summarized as follows:

I feel like Paladin's "OPness" is only because of top tier Paladins being able to help a team soak a FUCKLOAD of damage in 3v3s. The class is really easy to catch - both their shield and heavenly blessings can be interrupted with just plain 'ole hit-stun. Don't get me wrong, they are very, VERY strong, but I think people vastly overestimate how "overpowered" they are when you have other extremely powerful classes in the upper tiers of PvP as well - like Deathblade, Shadowhunter, Wardancer, Sorc, etc. Soulfist is also absolutely fucking insane as well, but almost nobody plays one.

Also, Kanon not shutting the fuck up about how "OP" Paladins are was toxic as hell, all because he plays a dogshit ass Striker who gets dumpstered by Paladins and has huge penis envy. When the reality is, he's just a shitty player. I saw him play his Paladin alt in the 1325 Abyssal and he's fucking garbage.

Soulfist was constantly hammered by "content creators" prior to launch. All I heard bout them was bad or average. Doesn't help their "meta" build seemed to be based all around ultimate, and if you missed it, well GL next time.

For pvp though, they were generally talked about in decent/good terms. Since they can be a mid to long range damage dealer also.

People really buy into those tier ranking videos and most of them were based around raids/pve.

I did one on russia, it was pretty fun and very "goku" like in feeling.

Soulfists definitely have their issues in PvE, but a really well played Soulfist is godly in PvP.

I think the RU version was cheaper, but yeah, a few extra mats and some shitty costumes, tuxedos and shit. Protip for worriers: Events are always good. Always. It's free mats. And the free part of the Battle Pass one, if it's like the one RU just had, it's do what you normally do every day, open pass, click button, collect mats. I did that one up to the mount reward and then didn't even bother to finish it.

While I'll agree that Kanon is garbage, he at least understands how PVP works and is capable of discussing what's going on even if his commentary is sometimes undesired.

As it relates to trying to bring Soulfist into the top tier of PVP classes, just no. There's a reason they're so underrepresented in the top 100 in spite of being cool as fuck. If ever there's a class that would attract players, that would be it. The fact that there isn't more is a pretty accurate indication of the fact that the class is middle of the pack for PVP. Does it have an arsenal of really, really good PVP tools which makes it seem good? Yes. Is it actually good? No. It lacks super armor. Any class that lacks this in PVP will always be incapable of advancing up the ladder consistently as when you're 'open' you're pretty much fucked. Flash Step is amazing from a mobility point of view however restricting it as a result of the lack of SA to compensate really limits it.

I don't know any of these people who are Lost Ark streamers and I still say PvP in this game is bad, it honestly needs some major adjustments. I could see it being decent if classes were closer to each other and the CC was toned down a fair bit.

Aren't DBs a hard counter to sorcs?

There was a Wardancer on one of the teams doing work while having zero super armor; that was the most impressive part of the tourney for me. But, the guy is a grand-master-level player so I don't feel too bad.

Flowers did a great job casting.

You can be very knowledgeable about the game and "understand it", but being a shitty player is going to color what you think about classes, their "OPness", etc. That's Kanon. He's a dogshit player - who mains Striker nonetheless, so in his mind Paladins are absolutely busted and ANYTIME one is on the field it's an auto-win. Strikers are on of the BEST matchups for a Paladin because they do nickle and dime damage and Paladins already negate a fuckload of damage as it is. Notice how he didn't mention SHIT about Dark's 78% winrate on his Gunslinger? But that class is tooootally fine, right Kanon? Or maybe...just MAYBE, a LOT of classes seem totally fucking busted at the upper levels of PvP gameplay?

LOL no Super Armor? Huh? Magnetic palm and flash step are both protected and crippling barrier has level 2 SA. Also, hype stages are full immunity transforms. Soulfist can hit and run like a motherfucker with her hype windows - her poke is godly.

The reason you don't really see Soulfist represented is because nobody plays them. Partially because of their issues in PvE, but also partially because they're relatively difficult/weird to play. But, if you have 100,000 Paladin players, what's the likelihood around 100 of those will be top-tier PvPers? Pretty good, I'm betting. Now, if you only have 10,000 Soulfist players, what's the likelihood 100 of those will be top-tier PvPers? It's the same with Sharpshooter, another class who has a pretty cracked PvP kit. But, just like Soulfist, they have very poor representation for similar reasons. Strikers are one of the weaker classes IMO, yet you still see pretty decent representation with them, why? Because people actually play the fuckin' class.

Again, people vastly overestimate how "OP" some of the top-tier PvP classes are. Much of the bitching comes from classes you see ALL THE TIME(because like I said earlier, a shitload of people play the class, so you'll see more cracked PvPers from that pool)in PvP. Like I said, you didn't hear Kanon bitch about how fucking ridiculous Gunslingers are. Why? Because very, very few players can reach the level of play Darksma is at. But a gunslinger in the hands of someone like that? Absolutely fuckin' filthy.

Honestly, PvP balance is pretty damn good, all things considered. The only classes that I think probably need some help in PvP are Strikers (their damage needs to come up a bit, imo) and Gunlancers (again, they could probably use a tiny damage buff) - Gunner notwithstanding because he's ridiculous at the game. There might be a case to be made to slightly nerf Paladin's damage or damage reduction, amount of protected skills on Deathblades, etc. But, overall, MOST classes perform really well if you aren't a total fuckin' potato. Comp matters a LOT in PvP and a lot of people bitch about "OP" because they ran into a bad matchup.

Stutter is fixed by turning off Area chat. It's the bots that cause it.

That's a name I haven't seen since I played BDO - SEA. I won't watch a video of his at all, after the discussions I've had with him on discord. I *sincerely* don't believe his knowledge on PvP on this game or anything else is worth much at all.
