I stopped doing all the sidequests and just focused on the MSQ, upon watching some youtubes saying thats the fastest way... It really killed any fun I was having, hit about 30 and it was the first time I just stopped from boredom. The whole personal island/stronghold mechanic really turned me off.

Im not sure its necessary content but I just fucking hate it, I felt the same way with the personal island shit in Albion Online, it feels like some lowgrade mobile game that wants to sell me microtransactions when that entire piece of content was presented to me.

Housing in these games just doesn't feel right to me after growing up playing Ultima Online. Just my opinion and more than likely its not even necessary content but if it is... shitty.
I didn’t even get to that. The combat was fun but the rest just wasn’t. If I was playing with friends and the focus was a little different I’d probably keep with it but I have no desire to do dailies and weeklies and shit. I just wanted to farm xp and loot mindlessly like an arpg. It has some good things going for it just not for me.

The main reason I want to play it is some of the end game stuff looks fun/interesting. Story/questing lacks a lot but seems like it will be a pretty enjoyable end game experience.

When you run the game do you have those black bars on side of your game like you do in your video too? I know you have a 49” monitor or something like that.

Yeah. It sucks. They don't have a 32:9 aspect ratio.

The estate isn't really housing. You can decorate it a bit, but it's completely unnecessary. It's basically nothing but a crafting UI. If you have no interest in crafting you can just ignore it. Otherwise, you port there like once a day, send off your boats, queue up some research/crafting and you're done in like 5 minutes tops. They've been adding some stuff recently, like a couple small areas where you can gather once a day, for different mats that are used to craft non-sellable shit. And there's some bonuses you can research, like extra combat xp for levels past 50, or +%s of upgrading chance, stuff like that. I don't know why anyone would bother spending real money on anything for it.

Ouch…. Yeah that would be a huge problem for me. I couldn't do i but I guess your use to it. I have a 34” and some games doesn’t support 21:9 aspect ratio but most of the ones do.

I still think that Last Epoch is gonna scratch that arpg itch for awhile. They constantly keep adding QoL and content to that game. Next update is dungeons and stuff.

Agree. Even the earlier build I played was scratching that itch. Just waiting for them to flesh it out now. I may start up again when dungeons go in, hope they turn out nice.

I plan on playing both games and wont derail thia games thread, but i hardly ever put anything more than a few hours into a beta.

Usually just enough time to see if its a purchase or not, then wait quit and wait for the release...yet here on Last Epoch I have over 300 hrs now I think!

Now that beta is done. Few things I understand now.

I see what Raes Raes and Voldeth Voldeth mean about needing alts to feed your main character. (Thanks for all the time spent explaining)There is a hard cap on resources you can get daily per character. I need 10 beaver butt stones to level up my breast plate of nipply nipples. I can only get 40 beaver butt stones per day on my main. With 5 pieces of armor that would take much longer on one character.

Gunlancer sucks ass to dodge. I can't get used to facing toward the monster and then hitting backstep. Did that puzzle dungeon and there are three instances where you MUST dodge. Shield didn't stop the insta death.

Taunt on Gunlancer really makes some fights easy peasy. It...taunts, but also interrupts. With a bard and my shield, I could face roll the boss towers. It was amazing! I THINK because I could hit bosses in the face, they were knocked down, allowing groups to go full ham.

Avoiding the side quests is definitely a must in leveling fast. ALTHOUGH there were a few side quests I missed that needed to be done later to access a couple dungeons. I didn't bother going back.

There are way too many currencies. I counted like 10+. I'm sure there are probably twice as many. I stopped caring because....beta.

I'm not too keen on calling this PTW. I just don't see what I gain in the shop that helped me get stronger. (Beta they gave you 40k or so to play with in cash shop. I spent 10k) The pets? Some QOL items? None that I even bothered with while doing dungeons. AND I got a metric fuckton by just playing.

I HATE HATE HATE the engraving system. Seems waaaay to RNG for me on multiple fronts. I would definitely pay real money to get rid of that shit! I got more money than time at this point.

Overall...a must buy for me. 9/10. Would be 10/10 if questing wasn't so meh. Will be going Gunlancer for sure, with big sword guy and the monk dude with the fire tornado!

And we all know Amazon Games Studio and QoL is like oil and water. No QA department at all is the only way to make sense of the AGS legacy thus far.

Maybe they will turn that around for Lost Ark.

Since NA/EU beta is over I downloaded and installed the Russian client. Was very easy and the only thing you got to pay a few dollars a month for a VPN until the NA/EU version comes out. If you don't like the Russian voices you can always lower or mute the voice dialogue like I did. Anyone who may be interested here is a step by step video guide.

Yeah was super easy to set up. I went with ProtonVPN after reading the VPN thread in the VPN advice/recommendation thread (VPN advice and recommendations). Super easy to set up.

Glad you enjoyed this the second time around! LA is NW in reverse: the start really blows and the world feels small and slow but the end game has an insane amount of depth / fun / things to do. It's certainly not for anyone seeking an ARPG experience though and is 100% MMO.

A lot of those currencies will come into play and you'll use them for a myriad of different stuff. Honestly though, the 'engraving system', albeit terribly RNG, ends up being a fun aspect of your character. Sounds like you accomplished your goal of the beta in figuring things out, looking forward to playing with you at launch!

Some abilities cause "fatigue" which when you accumulate enough on a boss will stun them for a few seconds, allowing your group to go ham on dps/stop them from unleashing a big ability/prevent Guardians from teleporting.

The p2w/pay-to-progress is built in to the design of the game. Those limits on mats/gold don't exist if you want to spend real money. Engravings too. So, it's not so much the cash shop itself, it's selling cash shop items/blue crystals to get gold. So, basically buying gold.
