It's pretty much just what you find pleasant. I don't find UK or Aussie accents appealing at all. In fact it is very much the opposite. However a mellow southern U.S. accent or a Spanish accent just flick some switch for me. German accents are nice as well.
Interesting sidenote to this. Your close friends will tend to have voices that you find appealing and it is very rare that you find close blood relatives voices irritating. I read a couple studies on accent relations in close groups a couple years back. It's actually fairly interesting that a large root of mixed family issues with step parents and children having issues warming up to each other is related to speech pattern and accent.
This is easy. You're trying to logically understand her decisions - there is none of that. Her decisions, like all women, are based purely in feeling. She thinks he's that much better than you - she had more feels for him than she has for you, and she wants to pursue him: see if she can nail him long-term possibly, or just gobble his cock more consistently.
Remember: a women is never yours; it's only your turn.
Advice: do absolutely nothing to 'get her back' or whatever. Tell her awesome and wish her the best. Find your own place and break all contact with her. In 6-12months, she'll come back after the Aussie breaks her heart or she gets bored with him. At that point, keep her around as a plate, but DO NOT, DO NOT move in with her again.

As I've managed to avoid drinking and she is avoiding me (staying at friends place, a mutual friend so nothing stupid there). We did talk a bit though and I believe that Onoes has it 100% correct on this. Our relationship wasn't perfect, just as I presume most relationships aren't but I never would have expected this. But it appears that in the day or two she had known this guy his excessive charm and accent is something that I do not have... or something. And while she can't be with this guy she hopes to find someone who is like me... but with excessive charm and whatever else it is that I don't. For lack of a better analogy she wants a golden relationship (perfect everything) and will not settle for silver.
But then leads me to question why she had even bothered pushing me towards something serious and all that shit. Seriously man, fucking women. Time to go run 5 miles and chill out. I'll find a place today for sure and leasing office told me it was no trouble to get off the lease as long the other party is willing to stay on it. So there's that.

Personally, I thought it was great having a girlfriend throughout most of college. I learned a lot about the day-to-day give-and-take and got pussy two or three times a day. What's not to like? I always thought the dating game was overrated. It's a pain in the ass.
