The difference, to me, is that white metals are common. Tin, steel, silver, platinum, palladium, nickel etc. How many golden metals are there? One. Copper is close but it's so far from gold. Gold is unique.

People don't buy metals and jewelry solely due to the color or how they look. The value is part of it, regardless of how little sense it makes.

Well white gold isn't just rhodium. It's just when they mix yellow gold to get its 10kt, 14kt, 18kt or whatever else they choose to mix it with nick/silver mainly to get it white instead of other alloys. It's turns it about 80% of the way leaving it a soft buttery color, the rhodium just brings it that extra 20%.

As to why white gold and metal is so popular, it's for a couple reasons. White goes with everything, it's considered classy while yellow gold is considered classic. White and Yellow gold are both worth the same because the gold weight is the same in both.

From a technical stand point, the yellow from the gold reflects yellow light which can/will bleed into the diamond and you can run the risk of it visually looking a grade or two lower in terms of color where as white gold won't do that.

On a side note, it's part of the reason I didn't wear yellow shirts or ties while selling because it would give the illusion of an off color in otherwise near colorless or colorless diamond when I was showing them.

Hey tarrant, if I was going to take you up on that offer, can I see the wholesale prices on that website, or would I have to get you to do a price check for me?
