"reported budget for Thunderbolts is approximately $150 million."

really not seen anything about reshoots or other issues, so might be able to breakeven. most think there is going to be some doomsday tie-in announced to push it up some.

It's the Marvel entry I am most interested in this year, but yeah, I fully expect this to start lower than Captain Falcon. Adjusting for inflation, almost certainly in the bottom five, possibly as bad as fighting with Ant-Man (I believe currently) for second worst.

Obviously if it is good you would hope it has some legs - I believe it doesn't have any major budget competition until Mission Impossible three weeks later, which had its own underwhelming results last time around as well. But it is also possible everyone just shrugs and waits for D+.

I guess we'll see if there's any embarrassing "Thanos is coming back!" marketing a la The Marvels as to how worried Disney is.

I have as much interest in this as I did Madame Web. Absolute zero. I despise the fat retard from stranger things and I hate anything to do with the useless black widows. Bucky not being Captain America is beyond infuriating. And I don't know who the rest of them are other than one being a gender swapped girlboss.

No thanks. Pure distilled garbage.

My opinion:
Black Widow was not a good movie, but Florence Pugh in both that and especially the Hawkeye show may legitimately be the most charismatic character post-Endgame.
(Actually, add that to the near-infinite list of post-Endgame Disney problems - the only great castings were Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, and maybe Wyatt Russell - all pre-established actors that had starred in their own Hollywood films prior to joining Marvel.)
I honestly liked Harbour as surrogate dad and fanboy in Black Widow.
As a Byrne-era West Coast Avengers guy, I am fine with more US Agent.
Sebastian Stan is still giving it his all, even if Marvel doesn't know what they're doing with him.

Sure, Ghost and Taskmaster were non-entities in their movies, and I dropped out of comics long before Sentry came long, but 4/7 ain't bad for modern Marvel.

With a little over three months to go before the movie premieres, stars Joseph Quinn and Vanessa Kirby broke down how they updated their classic characters. For Quinn, it was about finding what made him interesting to a modern audience.

“Myself and [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin [Feige] were speaking about previous iterations of him and where we are culturally,” he told Entertainment Weekly on Thursday. “He was branded as this womanizing, devil-may-care guy, but is that sexy these days? I don’t think so. This version of Johnny is less callous with other people’s feelings.”

Meanwhile, when Kirby took on the Invisible Woman, she went into it looking to figure out how to make her feel like less of a “doormat” than if she was actually in the 1960s.

“If you played an exact ’60s Sue today, everyone would think she was a bit of a doormat,” Kirby said. “So figuring out how to capture the essence of what she represented to each generation, where the gender politics were different, and embody that today, was one of the greatest joys of this.”

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is the first crack at adapting Marvel’s First Family into the MCU. The film is set in a retro-futuristic 1960s on a different Earth than the majority of Marvel’s films have taken place. Because of that, director Matt Shakman – who also was involved in the Disney+ series “WandaVision” – said the film feels much more standalone than other MCU properties do.

“We are our own universe, which is wonderful and liberating,” the filmmaker previously told Empire of the blockbuster, which takes place in a different reality than the rest of Marvel‘s movies and TV shows. “There’s really no [other] superheroes. There’s no Easter eggs. There’s no running into Iron Man or whatever. They’re it in this universe. I love the interconnected Marvel Universe, but we get to do something so new and so different.”

Is literally one person on Earth surprised that they decided to turn a modern Sue into a girlboss momboss? Especially in a world that's culturally set in the late 50s / early 60s?

No. Simply amazed that they aren't learning from their long list of giant failures with girl boss types that no one wants to see. Men don't want to see them. Women don't want to see them. 100% this Sue person is going to be a carbon copy of Captain Marvel.

I knew it was a lost cause when I saw the cast. FFS, a bunch of geriatrics in the main roles. I can't imagine who they could have plugged into the role of Sue Storm to get an instant win

but they got some old woman who is going to have the presence of a used toothpick.

I'm guessing the movie will do just ok, but it won't be the reboot they want.

I'm more impressed that Disney is more than happy to lose hundreds of millions of dollars to maintain "the message". Is ActBlue funneling money to their coffers?

I don't know why they are bringing Sentry in the Thunderbolts movie. I hate Red hulk but they completely ruined that character and I guess thank you for that

That's where you are wrong, it will be the reboot they want.
Just not the reboot we want.
