yea, besides most recently ghost of tsushima, i don't think i ever played a rpg character driven game that wasn't some white dude or girl.
it's like when i showed EQ to my wife 20years ago, she was gaming longer than me, and up until then she's always played a male main character, so she was like "wow, i get to play a girl". did she choose a high elf b/c it was the most asian looking? even tho theyre pasty white?
no high elves were the prettiest race out of the horror show of 1999 EQ graphical models.

Used to feel that way, but for the last few years I've tended to make female characters and name them after my daughters. Seems to make me feel more of an attachment and care a bit more what happens to them

I used to be same but now I’ll make a fem Shepard /Skyrim etc character occasionally and let my wife doll her up in character creation. I really don’t care either way.
In early games like tribes you had to use a female avatar because the hit box was a lot smaller. Even today even though the hit box is not technically any larger in these games the actual visual skin is much slimmer and harder to see and that matters. In fact there’s controversy right now in Warzone due to a female skin named Roze who is in all black leather and very slim. By far the best option to go.

I dunno, what killed it for me was the fact that they're gonna be making ME1 space travel more like ME3 space travel.
I liked the the boring, "Hey, let's go down to this planet and see what we can find..." of ME1. It was *much* better than the right click and the entire planet has been scanned approach of ME3.
It's the difference of Star Trek having shuttles and Star Trek having transporters, just because having transporters is faster. You lose the approach to the game that is exploration.
