We liked our Purple at first but then the grid started separating from the foam outline and that just kinda makes that whole half of the bed sort of fail. Will see how well the warranty process goes but I doubt I’d buy another one at this point. Sleep Number seems dope, but $$$. Not really sure what else to try. Probably not going to be able to afford a new bed anytime soon anyway.

Im dating someone way to young for me, so Im sitting at my computer unbelievably fucked up. I couldnt help but laugh my ass off at this because my stepdads mother, RIP, had her bed stacked up like that. My cousin and I would jump on that shit and the center would sink in like you're in the fucking Addams Family or w/e. Thank you for that laugh :trump:

Spent the night at an old guildmate’s house once when I was in town and his bed in the spare room was fucking stacked like that. I’m 5’2” and I had to grip the covers and crawl/drag my ass up onto that thing. It was a damn ordeal.

My GF is 5 even. Her bed is tall. Hybrid mattress+ mattress topper+frame. She has a step to get into it, and it takes her a good 20+ minutes to change the sheets and get it set back up. She keeps her socks on the night stand because the floor is too far away.

There are people that build their own mattresses out of the various foam layers instead of one large block of foam. I believe that is how the expensive foam mattress companies do it.

I didn't find this until well after I bought my current bed, but I might try to build one next time. I hate my feet hanging off the bed, so it would possibly allow for a longer bed, but heavily depending on how much custom linen sheets would then cost for it.

I think there is a reddit sub for building them, maybe, but here is a huge writeup by someone on regular r/mattress sub:

I had to double check but I did confirm I ordered my current my pillow foam topper after making this post and no response.

It too sleeps hot.. idk what to do. Would prefer to buy a topper than an entire mattress. Any suggestions?

My brother built his own mattress following the Reddit procedure. I think he's happy with the results.

Latex foam is cooler than memory foam. I've had a mattress from these guys for about 8 years now; no complaints.

I really liked it originally, but ours has had the grid pull apart from the frame and it kind of just makes its whole system fail. Nowhere near as comfortable and now it hardly breathes and gets hot as hell. Of course we're no longer in a service area for where we bought it, so they won't handle our warranty now. Heard bad things about their process anyway, so who knows if we could have gotten ours fixed.

I was going to get a Purple until I read these kinds of reviews. So I went with Casper. Most comfortable mattress Ive owned.

Looking for new bedding. Stayed at a residence inn last month and sheets/cover were amazing. Seemed to keep me cool/breath well and not overheat.

Is it true linen sheets regulate body temperature the best and that high thread count cotton doesn’t breath well?

Any suggestions?

This shit is worse than car shopping. I’m about to say fuck it and order another Saatva bc that’s what we’ve had for 8 years and it has been great and why mess with something new. Everything you read is “Well I bought this Purple mattress and woke up and my L2-L7 was completely shattered and my wife’s neck was broken!”

Yeah it's pretty nuts. I feel like some people are buying a mattress thinking it's going to transform their lives and then they're disappointed when it's just a rectangle with springs on the bottom and padding on the top. My brother went down the mattress rabbit hole at Reddit and finally wound up building his own mattress somehow. He's had it for a while now and I haven't heard that he's now rich and famous and good looking so I'm assuming it's still just a bed.

My parents beach house has that obnoxious $11,000 kit from sleep number. Has all the heating, cooling, adjustable feet, head, back, snore fix, blah blah blah. I slept the exact same as I did on my $800 mattress that has none of those options last I stayed there. They have the money to waste on dumb shit, I dont. Their mattress did "feel" better - but Im not lounging on the fucking thing.

I honestly think most people just use a mattress past its life span. Which causes them to start looking, and the advertising wraps them up into some crazy shit thinking they need the best bed money can buy, and they need it now.

Only thing I have to add is bamboo sheets are great. I sleep hot and recently tried these. It’s the first sheets I’ve ever owned where I can actually sleep under the comforter and the sheet. I used to sleep on top of the sheet and just under the comforter by itself.

I bought one of these cheap ass Zinus mattresses from Amazon for our guest room. Whenever people stayed over they'd rave about how comfortable it was to the point that I decided to swap with our mattress. I don't necessarily think it's worthy of that level of glowing praise, but I haven't had any major back issues since switching. It reeks for the first week or so while it's offgassing - I guess that's the green tea infusion or whatever bullshit they're claiming is in it.
