Awww shit. Pirates just keep winning AND NOW THE CARDS ARE ACTUALLY LOSING OCCASIONALLY!

NL Central is ridiculous. Cards/Bucs/Cubs have 3 of the 4 best records in all of baseball. And by a pretty healthy margin. As much as I bitch it's got to be even worse for Cubs fans. They keep winning and they're not making up ground ontwoteams in their division.

Yeah, the NL Central is brutal this year, the Cubs would be leading any other division except the AL Central with their record and it's only good enough for third place. They truly are cursed.

The AL East is shaping up very nicely, with the Yankees and Jays tied now it should be a very exciting stretch run. Strohman pitched a 40 pitch simulated game yesterday and will be going to the minors for a rehab assignment very soon, will be nice to add his arm back into the mix, even if he ends up in the pen for the rest of the year. Hard to believe I'm saying this about the Jays pitching, but there just might not be a spot for him in the rotation right now since we picked up Price. Was such a stupid way to lose him, tearing his ACL during a fielding drill in spring training of all things. Bird has looked pretty good for the Yanks since being called up, he's got a semmingly promising future ahead of him. Can't wait for September and playoff baseball afterwards!

Agree about the AL East. Pineada comes back tomorrow and with the way Eavoldi pitched, CC may have to take a step back in the rotation which is fine with me. The one thing I would be concerned with if I was the Jays is their schedule down the stretch. I think they play their last 20 of 27 on the road?

Our buddy is in the news again.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) -- ESPN removed Curt Schilling from its broadcast team for the Little League World Series on Tuesday because of an anti-Muslim tweet.

Schilling retweeted a post that said, "Only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How'd that go?" The post was soon removed from his Twitter feed.

The network said the tweet was unacceptable and that it "made that point very strongly to Curt." ESPN said Schilling was removed from the Little League World Series assignment "pending further consideration."

Schilling accepted the punishment, saying in a statement: "Bad choices have bad consequences and this was a bad decision in every way on my part."

Houston already beat last year's win total, with 34 more games to go. Hopefully Springer will start a rehab assignment soon, and hopefully, something will happen to Chris Carter that will prevent him from being able to play baseball, like his arms falling off or something. I don't want him to die or anything, but fuck, get him off this team.

Was gonna suggest that maybe he goes blind... but looking at his numbers, his vision wouldn't necessarily change anything. At least he can hit it over the train every now & then right? That's worth like 5 runs in basketball.

Since July 1st, he's hitting .100 with 3 HR and 31 strikeouts. It's not like June was much better, that just happened to be where my eyes stopped when looking at his monthly breakdown (he at least had a .348 OBP that month).

I guess to their credit, he's mostly relegated to a pinch hit role now, but damn.

He will play until Springer comes back. When Springer returns, Carter, at best, will be a defensive replacement at 1b. Other than that, he wont see the field again.

Nice to see the Twins bounce back and go on a little run here. I don't think they'll sustain it through the end of the year, but love seeing them in the Wild Card hunt even this late in the season. That Sano kid, at 22, is already a hell of a player. I hope we can lock him up long term once it comes time for that. Otherwise, he's Ortiz 2.0 and I'll be bitter when he wins one with the Yankees or Red Sox.

So as of right now, not a single AL playoff team from 2014 will make the 2015 playoffs other than the Royals. Crazy. Orioles, Tigers, Angels, and As are all currently out if the season ended today

He's like the next Frank Thomas. That's the best comparison I can think of.

Edit: It's not even potential at this point. He's got 1/3rd of the at bats of the league leaders right now. 38 RBIs, 12 homers, 13 doubles, 30 walks. His OBP is up near 400. Kid just turned 22 and is a monster already.
