Mark Trumbo traded to Seattle Mariners in 6 player deal

Arizona also sent left-handed pitcher Vidal Nuno to the Mariners, while catcher Welington Castillo, right-handed reliever Dominic Leone and minor leaguers Gabby Guerrero and Jack Reinheimer are going to the Diamondbacks.
LOL, exactly what the M's needed, another guy who can hit them some (solo) dingers. DINGERS BABY! YEAH!

Also bet Castillo will turn into a Superstar now.

Infante is Tony Pena Jr. all over again. Yost really needs to pull his head out of his ass and bench him

I guess the problem is that we don't really have a backup for Moose or Escobar if Christian Colon becomes an everyday starter. Apparently Infante can't play short or 3rd at all. A title contending team in the AL can't leave a guy batting .200 with an equivalent OBP in the lineup all year. His spot in the lineup is the constant rally killer

Just watching Sox/A'S game. Lawrie broke his bat, and it went flying into the stands and nailed a woman. The police were shielding what I presume was her kids eyes as she screamed bloody murder, and was bleeding very badly. Update says she has life threatening injuries.

From Boston Globe:

The woman was hit in the second inning by a bat that broke after a swing by Brett Lawrie of the Oakland A's, who were at Fenway to play the Red Sox. The game was halted to attend to the woman and boy.

A number of fans witnessed the accident, including Alex Merlas of Brookline.

"Brett Lawrie hit the ball and the bat snapped in half near the end of the bat," Merlas said. "It hit on the forehead to the top of the head ... it was a blunt trauma and it was a lot of blood. I don't think I've ever seen that much blood."

Arvald Karp of Boston said, "She seemed in shock, she was not aware of what was going on, pushing help away. She was pushing the towel away, and she was out of it."

Jesus, that's awful.

A fan hit by a broken bat at Fenway Park is expected to survive after sustaining life-threatening injuries during a game between the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox.

Officer Rachel McGuire said Saturday that the woman is recovering.

Tonya Carpenter was struck in the head by the broken bat of Oakland's Brett Lawrie on Friday night. Police initially called her injuries life-threatening.

Carpenter is in serious condition, her family said Saturday in a statement.

In response, MLB will likely now have to erect netting around the perimeter since this lawsuit will be massive. I always wondered what would happen if a ball harmed a fan as there really is no contract a fan agrees to that agrees to not press suit if injured by such so it will be interesting to see what happens here. A lawsuit is obvious as I can guarantee nearly every ambulance chaser in the country is on this one already.

At least they didn't get no-hit yesterday!

It's fine, we're lucky we play in such a shitty division.

So how do we all feel about the all-star game being Royals vs the National League?

I don't think the shit will really hit the fan unless Infante gets the start at 2B. He's a total dumpspter fire. At least every other Royal has an argument that they should at least be "in" the game(but most probably not starting)

If nothing else, it'll be the best defensive lineup the all star game has ever seen, which might actually work out well when combined with amazing pitching...

I think it might have been '94 or '95 when I said fuck the ASG. Lenny Dykstra had been voted in to start in CF, but hadn't played all year.

Good on Royals fans for the ballot stuffing, though. I just couldn't vote for any Astro, deferring 2B to Kipnis. I'll sleep soundly knowing my one vote was cast unbiased and for the best players!

After researching, I guess I was sort of mistaken. Pretty sure it was 95, but it was just a very small number of games he played in while still getting voted in. He was pretty fucked up the last 3 years. The thing that struck me as sort of odd was I never pictured him as a popular, likable guy to garner that much support, but oh well.
