It's always been that way. There's been a number of times when a star player has been voted in when they've missed most of the season to that point. Name recognition means a lot when it's fan voting.

Any White Sox fans here? I'm just curious about how Chicago feels about Hawk Harrelson. I've been streaming the games the past few days, and good fuck, I can't imagine having to listen to that guy on a regular basis. I'm not saying Houston's announcers are great, and I know that announcers are generally pretty polarizing, and Harrelson takes pride in being the biggest homer in the league, but damn.

Sawthis on fangraphstoday. Keep in mind that this was written in 2012. But it is pretty on point about Hawk.

I miss the Jim Deshaies and Bill Brown combo. ;/

Hopefully this day off will help knock Houston out of whatever funk they are in. I'm not optimistic though, as they have to face King Felix tomorrow. The bullpen is looking a little shaky lately, which is troubling after they started so well. They need to shitcan Qualls and Hernandez, though.

In Correa we trust.

It's disastrous news for the Reds. Who knows how this will affect him. Could lose a lot of the power he was bringing this season. He was also well on his way to a career year. Reds injuries are the worst. Bailey, Mesoraco, and now Cozart. All key players out for the year.

I did think it was a little early to start hearing rumors of potential suitors for Cueto, but it's gonna be tough to catch St. Louis, or hell, even the wild card spot with the way SF has started to play.

Looks like Votto picked a hell of a time to get healthy and return to form. They're sure as hell gonna need it.

Then again, Felix could have one of the worst starts in his career as Houston scores 8 runs in the first.

Baseball is a funny game.

Nice to see the excitement around DFW with Gallo. Dude has incredible bat speed, hope he doesn't fall like Davis did (and then rebound amazingly on a different squad lol).

Davis was never really that good on the Rangers. He said playing in-front of people from his hometown (he grew up near DFW)/family always made him nervous. So I wouldn't say he "fell".

They have had the most home games in the league. Should wait a bit more.
Maybe we should wait a little more, but this is not the reason. They've played like...two less away games than most other teams. It's not really that big of a deal.

In reference to more his prospect and his grades on his power, so "fell" is not the proper word, but he certainly didn't live up to what the Rangers had in mind originally.

Also I'm not sure how I feel about the Astros yet. It looks like they're at least in the market for additional SP help after McHugh's bad stretch, and word has it that they are potentially in on Clippard as well. Know they had extreme interest in Clippard prior to the beginning of the season.

Being from DFW this could be slight homer-ish, although the Rangers aren't my team, but they are starting to play more like I expected. Well enough to put them in a position to start actively thinking about coughing up the prospects for a Hamels.

Fucking hell, Cincy can not catch a break. Their SP tonight, Jon Moscot (who has only had 2 starts, neither of which were great) dislocated his shoulder trying to apply a tag.
