Of course not, at this rate they won't be playing enough playoff games to get to them.Counterpoint: neither pitcher who gave up those 11 runs will be starting a playoff game
The amazing part is that they're doing this without any help from Perez and Holland. I was expecting those two to bolster the rotation, but they've been pretty shitty since their return. The team's been winning because they've had the best bullpen in the majors and a top 3 offense since the ASB.What is this rangers team. Not too long ago they were at 51-53 and looking average at best. You had your best hitters hitting low .200 at all star break. Choo was at like .220 or something, your best pitcher is out for tomy jon... ect.
Now the team is fucking smoking hot as it heads toward the playoffs. 29-16 since then, you have choo hitting close to 400 over the last month, and just about everyone else on the team hitting the ball real well. The pitching on average has been plenty good enough. This weekend will be super interesting. If rangers trash the astros again I'm gonna have good feelings and be 100% on the hype train.
It'll be interesting to see if colby keeps his playoff form post surgery. He was always a decent workhorse pitcher regular season that turned into an absolute monster in the playoffs. I'll never forget how hard he shit on the hitters of a couple high power offenses in our playoff runs. Plus holland has shown hes good enough in the post season if he can avoid tripping on dogs or stabbing himself with a fork or whatever stupid shit he does.
Rangers pitching situation is weird. They lack a reliable ace, which is a problem in the playoffs, but they are pretty good in most other measurable categories. Their bullpen is all around pretty good, and they have plenty of OK pitchers to the point that you don't have to worry about that shitty 5th spot giving up games consistently. There's no question that perez hasn't improved and holland has regressed a few years, which is a big disappointment after he showed sparks of greatness before his surgery, but at the same time they're not BAD. On top of that, Gallardo, Hamels and Colby have all been good enough to be the 2 spot on most teams, which is certainly helping to carry some weight. The amazing part is that they're doing this without any help from Perez and Holland. Pretty sure the call took less than 2 seconds. Really rooting for the astros to make wild card, I don't want to see the angels make it.The astros play this game was ugly. They knock out one of their own best players with a flying punch to the face and then on top of it decide to challenge the call at pete carrol levels of derp.
They really look cooked at the moment.
In the NL East their AL leading record would be good for a tie for 3rd in the division...So the Royals, only 1 game up for home field advantage in the AL, gave the following players the day off:

2-4 against Cards, 1-1 vs Cubs(have a make up scheduled this week for 3rd game) before they got their shit together, 2-1 against Pittsburgh. So 5 -6 against the good teams and feasted on Cinci and Milwaukee.Meh...Royals were 13-6 against the *great* NL central this year
Yeah, Milwaukee and Cincy are dumpster fires. The Reds are going on damn near 60 consecutive rookie starts. Smashed the previous record from like 1904 or some shit. The offense is actually respectable. But the pitching... I still watch some Reds games because some of the rookies have promise and Votto is a badass. But most games aren't worth watching beyond the fifth inning.2-4 against Cards, 1-1 vs Cubs(have a make up scheduled this week for 3rd game) before they got their shit together, 2-1 against Pittsburgh. Though really I was mostly just bitching about the Wild Card.
I do think they should turn the wild card into a 3-game playoff, but be thankful you have the wild card at all! Better than winning 100+ games and not even getting a shot as used to happen.Though really I was mostly just bitching about the Wild Card.
