Mariners and Rays pull off a six player trade
The Mariners have sent first baseman Logan Morrison, infielder/outfielder Brad Miller, and right-hander Danny Farquhar to the Rays in exchange for right-hander Nate Karns, left-hander C.J. Riefenhauser, and prospect outfielder Boog Powell.

Ken Griffey Jr. and Trevor Hoffman are the most notable new names. Billy Wagner is new this year also, and I'd love to see him get in, but I'm not holding my breath.
The best shot from last year's ballot are Mike Piazza (69.9%), Jeff Bagwell (55.7%) and Tim Raines (55%).
In the past, all members of the BBWAA with more than 10 consecutive years of membership received a ballot. Under the new rules passed in July by the Hall's board of directors, members who have not actively been a member of the BBWAA for 10 years must apply every year for their ballot. The Hall then determines by the number of games an applicant covered in the previous season whether to issue a ballot.

Until the BBWAA admit to their culpability in perpetuating the steroid era and stop using their votes as a method of trying to reclaim some sort of moral high ground on the subject I have no interest in who they say is or is not worthy to be memorialized amongst the greatest players to ever play the game. Oh, that and also yielding to the fact that if a relief pitcher is HoF worthy a DH should be also.

Tommy Hanson, former Braves and Angels pitcher, dies at 29

A source told WSB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Atlanta, that Hanson had trouble breathing early Sunday morning and was taken to a hospital. He suffered catastrophic organ failure, multiple sources told the TV station.

Oh yeah. The Reds are trying to get as many young prospects as possible. No one will take on Votto's contract and BP is with the Reds until he retires, but just about everyone else is fair game. I imagine the only off-limits players are the young ones we got in the past year. DeSclafani, Iglesias, Suarez, Lamb, Duvall. I bet Mesoraco is a no-trade too.
