At least the Angels have gone for it. Third largest TV market and the largest contract they ever handed out was for Andrew Benintendi. Where the owner has come out an publicly said, finishing 2nd is ideal.

The White Sox reached an agreement with Benintendi to fill a corner outfield need as well as the need for a solid left-handed bat in a predominantly right-handed lineup. Moncada had a breakout season in 2019, his third year with the White Sox after arriving from Boston in the Chris Sale trade, and got his extension the following spring.

The best thing that ever happened to Moncada was getting traded for Chris Sale.
The White Sox have treated him like a star, because he is the only thing they have to show for giving up Sale (who won a WS for the Red Sox in 2018 by the way). Moncada ranks up there with the most over rated MLB players ever. The bum has a career .251 avg, only had more than 20 HR's once in his career (4 years ago lol), he plays about 50 games a year, and he is slow as fuck.
That is all it takes to earn you a 5 year, $70m contract? You can find better stats on half of the players on any AAA team. Fucking White Sox are mentally handicapped, I swear.

Yeah. Remember when Moncada had elite speed? All the major players in that trade have just mostly been injured since that trade outside of the first couple of productive years for Sale.
