No, fuck that. Take them out of the game completely. We have the technology to get it right, don't slow down the game with having to challenge a ball or a strike. Could you imagine that rule with Angel Hernandez behind the plate? An automated strike zone should only be used to supplement the human umpire and used for challenges
each team would be allowed to make one challenge to a call per inning, if the robo ump can confirm an incorrect call, then the team would retain the right to question another call that inning
if the robo ump confirmed the human umpire made the correct call, then the team would lose the right for more challenges until the next inning
Oh man, that would totally happen. There's just no way you can give them shared responsibility with robo umps. With how soft the umps are I could see them standing up to the technology and making wrong calls intentionally because they know teams are out of challenges. That'll show the robots!
Over these pansy ass human umps.
Mizuhara could still be falling on his sword to protect Ohtani. The article says he admitted to the bookie in a text that he had stolen from Ohtani which sure seems like a smoking gun, but the text was sent the same day that the story changed from Ohtani paying Mizuhara's debts to Mizuhara admitting he lied.I know nothing on how these investigations work. The Feds saying he was taken by the interpreter means it's legit? Or they doing MLB a solid by just saying this? OR will there be a real investigation and the truth that he bet on...whatever comes out?
Feds accuse Ohtani ex-interpreter of $16M theft
The former interpreter for Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani stole $16 million over more than two years from Ohtani to pay off gambling debts to an illegal sportsbook, according to an affidavit filed by federal authorities Thursday.www.espn.com
Prosecutors are rarely charitable, especially when some of them could add a scalp of this size to their collection. Sounds like they're pretty sold, Mizuhara did this.Seems like a stretch though. Even if you don't trust the integrity of the Federal investigators I doubt the MLB has so much clout that they could convince them to manufacture evidence to support a false confession by Mizuhara and ignoring or helping cover up evidence that it was actually Ohtani.
He really is unbelievably awful. How is it possible MLB still hasn't removed himx.com

Absolutely unacceptable. An absolute plague on the game.
The amount of calls Houston has received in these firsr two Texas series is absolutely wild - and they still get smoked. I feel for Langford, he's been on the receiving end of some horrible umpiring.
I cannot wait for them to get rid of umps calling balls and strikes.
