Short story time.

I've pretty much been a fair-weather baseball fan, since I live in CO and have had the Rockies to cheer for my whole life. I remember back in 1992, when it was announced that we were getting a team. I was really excited and went to a handful of inaugural games. It was fun and new, but with the Nature of baseball at high altitude and the Monfort owners not caring about winning, it just wrecked being a baseball fan for me. Luckily we have the Av's, Nuggs, and Broncos..Oof last few years, ok this year tho!..to cheer for, but the Rockies have been nearly a permanent disappointment.

Fast forward to 2017 and the news of Ohtani signing with the Angels. That got me back into actively watching baseball and collecting sports cards again in 2018. With big news like that, and being an on/off card collector my whole life. It was fun to be able to enjoy both hobbies again. Turning to the Angels and their next few seasons, and learning how much of a black hole organization they have become. Sucking in Trout, other players not meeting expectation, missing every playoffs. It was nice to see Ohtani somehow fight off their losers gravity and sign with the Dodgers. That got me re-invigorated again for this season, and I watched as many games live as I could. It was much easier to spend the time watching, knowing they at least had a chance to win every game. Now to be a bandwagon-new LA fan, and get to see them win last night, it really made my year. I am super happy to see Ohtani get what I hope is only the first championship. Also to see some other great players playing really well to get their goal accomplished, it made for a really great season.

Let's go Dodgers!

My similar story. Life long orioles fan from the cal ripkin days but baltimore and maryland can suck my hairy sack.

Ohtani has really brought something and I and wife legit rooted for the Dodgers all season.

I even had man bitch angels fans whining at me back in February when I was rocking a ohtani dodgers jersey.

Here's a crazy idea: fuck the umpires and let balls and strikes be called completely accurately by a computer. Why are we still pussyfooting around this with half measures? If the automated system is good enough to make the determination on a challenge, it's good enough to be used on every call. It seems the only reason they're not implementing it is that it will drive scoring down since pitchers can paint the corners, but hitters will adjust.
god i hope not...the replay bullshit is bad enough

Living in the Bay Area, I don't think 49ers and Dodgers fans exist. They would be sniffed out and beaten.

Except for Ameraves Ameraves .
There are a ton in LA mostly due to the Montana years.

People bandwagon the glamor teams from years past, especially in LA

I feel like Philly was one of the worst when winning the Superbowl ect, pretty sure KC didn't turn into a complete shit show when they win.

Its definitely gotten worse the last decade, joggers find any reason to riot and loot.

I shit on my home city a lot.....but what a great time to be an Angeleno. Between this and the Rams Super Bowl, our city has been great sportswise. I will probably never witness another baseball game more exciting than game 1 of the WS. I will probably never see the Rams win the Super Bowl again, especially in our home town.

This series was so much closer than it seemed. Yankees doing Yankees things and giving away the series. Torres fields the ball cleanly in Game 1, then Ohtani doesnt get to 3rd, Mookie doesn't sac fly him home.....Yankees win. Yankees should have won last night as well, which means the series should be 3-2 Yankees coming back to LA. But no, Yanks can't do little league shit and field properly, so they deserve to lose.

Where is Soto next year? If you listened to his after-game speech he clearly showed no loyalty or leanings towards staying with the Yankees. Without him, they are nowhere near as good as they are this year, so unlikely to return to the WS.

Dodgers? We get everyone important back. Pitchers hopefully can stay healthy. I honestly don't care if Ohtani pitches or not, he's valuable either way, I don't want to risk injury for him. But the Dodgers are going to be formidable next year. I can't wait.

So I grew up in Southern California, and my entire family is hard core Dodgers fans. It's quite literally the only sport where we agree on a team across the board.

When I was a kid nobody in my family really had an NFL team. My dad made fun of the Rams all the time calling them the Lambs. Well, all my friends were 49ers fans at school, so I just sorta hitched my wagon to them. That's how I got split that way. Outside of the 49ers I am all So Cal teams.

Not sure what you mean. Automating the strike zone should lead to less stoppages, unless you mean challenging balls/strikes in which case I 100% agree, that's just going to be dumb. If Angel Hernandez didn't retire, there would be games double the length from all the challenges.

I don't like replay in sports, especially not baseball. I enjoy the human element of umps getting calls wrong and teams having to overcome. My only concern with balls and strikes is that they are consistent, in fact I enjoy it more when an ump has a goofy zone for the night as long as he is calling it the same for both teams and then watching which pitchers are able to adjust to his zone. I will miss that if they take it away.

Personally I would much rather assign the top 15 (or however many umpiring crews there are) umpires for calling balls and strikes to be the home plate umpires, with the next 15 being assigned as backups - so each crew has a home plate ump and a backup home plate ump over robo strike calling. That should lower the amount of bad calls but still leave room for the human element over
