As far as penalty, I'd be surprised if it went beyond suspensions and fines. I wouldn't shock me if they suspend Hinch and maybe GM but I'm not sure what else can be done. Everyone knew about it so it's the entire organization. They are not going to vacate titles or disqualify from postseason (this isn't college). The only other thing I can think of is taking away stuff like draft picks like football does (is that what happened with the Pats in Spygate?)

I'm trying to formulate an argument for how the Astros cheating means the Yankees have won two more World Series.

I am taking the cycling approach. How hard were the Nats cheating to beat the Astros?

This is a lot worse than what the Pats did. The Pats were recording to be reviewed after games and it used to be allowed. The league made clear electronics are not allowed for this kind of stuff . In addition this wss being used as it was happening to get a live competitive advantage.

I personally think they will get a fine and lose some draft picks but honestly it needa to be a lot more than that.

Probably the biggest cheating scandal in our lifetime.

It is pretty wild that as recent as July I didn't know who Jomboy was, and now he is one of the media being quoted on the forefront of the Astros scandal. He is awesome.

I have friends who didn't like baseball until I forced them to watch some videos and now they're onboard.

Solid signing(s), and sounds like the White Sox are big on Zack Wheeler. Sleeper team who could be pretty fun to watch as early as next year.

This could be interesting. If "voided" through arbitrator, it would eliminate the contract for the year and open up a ton of money for the Yanks (cheap shitlords). Seems doubtful, but the claim is Ellsbury "went outside team approval" to seek rehabilitation. Almost forgot Ellsbury was a player at times, most ambiguous injury shit ever. Not even sure if the Yankees really knew what was going on.

Ellsbury has been such an awful contract. I still get annoyed when they decided to get him instead of just paying Cano when they already had like 20 outfielders.

White Sox fan here... great we got Grandal. Never mind the fact that the team spent their 2016 first round pick on Zack Collins, a "can't miss" catcher prospect. And, they got a surprising great season out of James McCann last year and have him thru the 2020 season as well.

I don't have a problem with spending Reinsdorf's money. I have a problem with Kenny Williams getting seemingly unlmited number of chances to throw shit on the wall and see what sticks.

Yeah I forgot that McCann actually had a really good year. Apparently they were comfortable with Grandal because they can cycle him in and out at 1B/DH. Signing definitely has a feeling of, "Well we better sign who we can" after not being able to convince Machado.

Williams has probably made enough past "good" moves, and him winning that World Series has seemingly bought him the invincibility status with Reinsdorf. For better or for worse. White Sox have been way too absent the last decade.

Wow, definitely a bit of an overpay @ 4 yrs, $64 million. He's gonna play 2B for the Reds. Sorta odd, but ok. Wonder if Gregorious is still on their radar. This will escalate the 3B market a bit. Rangers, Braves, Phillies, possibly the Dodgers & Nationals all needing 3B this could get fun.

Kinda meh on this move. 2B was definitely an area that was up in the air so it's nice to have that solidified, but if we were willing to throw around that amount of cash I would have rather had Didi.

  • Hamles to the Braves for 1 yr, $18 mm.
  • Nationals more confident in retaining Strasburg than Rendon.
  • Phillies & White Sox leaders for Zack Wheeler at about $100mm.
  • Apparently, the Yankees have told Cole & Boras "the money will be there". And some think the "modernity" analytical edge that the Yankees (along with their new pitching coach), might give them an equalizer to Cole wanting to be in California.
  • Angels Reach Stadium Agreement With City Of Anaheim
Thankfully it seems this off-season might move quicker than the absolute sluggish speed of last year. On Cole, as a Yanks fan, I'm still skeptical. It's too easy to see the Angels offering just absolutely retarded money. But I also think Cole might see how valuable actually playing for a smart organization is after his time in Houston (cameras or not).

EDIT: Wheeler to the Phillies.

Not sure how I feel about this. Guess some relievers that come in and shit the bed immediately will have to do so for two more batters.

7 years, $ 245M - how's Strasburg's arm gonna be at age 38?

Seems like a massive overpay. Id be shocked if anyone was offering anywhere near that much. Cole is going to get ridiculous money now.
