Good fight, much respect for JDS. His worst round was the second and he got better each round until the 5th. Would've been nice to see Cain push for a finish but I have to assume he was just fighting smart.

My picks were so bad tonight and I thought JDS would win but fuck that was great. I'm so glad Cain got the W. That was fight of the night.

Well, that was certainly unexpected. What exactly was it that made Junior so tired? It seemed to me he was stuffing the takedowns pretty easily at first (but I was watching on a shitty stream so couldn't really tell if he already looked tired from that), but then he started eating more and more shots and eventually that big right that dropped him and he was pretty much in zombie mode from that moment on... guess he just got tired from the wrestling?

I agree with your confusion. Before he started taking those shots Rogan pointed out how he slowed down. Whether he was sick or gassed out or what I have no idea.

I think Cain's strategy just threw him completely off guard and if you looked at Junior's face, before he took that big shot, it was already turning pretty red from being hit in those small exchanges. He just looked frazzled and confused almost right away. I'm guessing he's used to most people just trying to box with him a bit at first to warm up instead of just bring the fight from the get go, but who knows. Oh and the fans in Vega's seem fucking horrible.

I think he was just getting outmatched. He hasn't fought another guy that had takedowns as good as Cain. Cain tried to take him down the first time around last year but ended up getting caught early. I thought JDS did much better than I thought he would once he did get taken down but a 240 pound dude taking you down 2-3 times a round will wear you down. I'm so glad this fight turned out the way it did because it will be an awesome trilogy.

The UFC and even the media makes JDS' boxing out to be pro boxer level and its really not that good, he's just good for a heavyweight in the UFC. I'm not shocked that Cain won but I guess it's a little bit surprising. Still, it's a MMA fight, not a boxing match and JDS had so many unknowns going into the fight.

I thought Lauzon would win, so shrug.

It's better for MMA that Cain won.

Fuck I sometimes forget what it was like to watch Tyson in his prime, any harder and that mans head would have flown into the crowd.

Tyson was a bad bad person, but I dont think Lennox Lewis gets enough respect. I know its odd to just bring him up randomly, and he didnt have the highlight reel Tyson had, but that dude was a fucking terror. Beat every dude he faced, most by brutal KO, and the only thing you can fault him for is a questionable chin, which Tyson also had.

Anyway, Im shocked that Dos Santos got tooled so easily. I think its more of a testament to MMA and how tough it is to consistently win fights no matter who you are. A big thing that matters is a fighters condition leading up to the fight. By all accounts Cain wasnt right before the first fight, and sometimes thats bullshit, but in his situation it seems to be legit. But Dos Santos was supposed to be 100% going into this fight so who knows? All I know is I need to see a 3rd fight between them. Yeah I want to see Velasquez Overeem (as that is an MMA purists dream, pure, savage striking vs hybrid wrestler with historic takedown accuracy) but seeing Cigano fight him one more time is probably going to happen at some point.

Pretty sure this is my worst picks ever.

Overall not a bad card. The Lauzon and Miller fight was fucking fantastic. Was quite shocked with how dominated JDS was. I honestly thought he would be able to catch Cain again, but it was never even close.
