Yeah, we'll see how well Hendricks does if his fight with GSP makes it to championship rounds. I won't go so far as to say he looked gassed, but Condit definitely looked much fresher than him in Round 3, and a 5 round fight could have made things turn out very differently. Despite all those takedowns, Hendricks couldn't do much damage or advance his position while Condit was constantly working for subs and escaping. Personally, I don't see Hendricks doing better against the GSP smother than anyone else in the division.

GSP's camp is good enough that they can teach him to avoid a left hand, that's all Hendricks does. He will get blasted with a double or worse while fucking chasing GSP throwing four left hooks in a row like hes Roy Jones. Always a punchers chance, but Koscheck, Alves, everyone else had the same chance.

Yeah GSP has a pretty good boxing game himself and one of the better jabs in MMA. He can absolutely just keep that right hand high and tenderize Hendricks with the jab. Ask Koscheck. And throwing wild haymakers is not the way to set up your TD defense.

Hell, when he was standing with Diaz he was doing OK til he seemed to start gassing.

Speaking of, the knee is no longer an excuse. First fight back you get a little pass on the cardio, not the second. Granted, both fights were against guys who really try to push the pace, but it's still unacceptable for a guy who we've always heard trains harder than anyone and has endless stamina.

So, looking at the WW rankings from before the event the next obvious match up for contenders is Condit/Ellenberger. Since MacDonald is out longer. WW is more interesting to me than it has been in a really long time.

Yup, with the level of contenders moving up the ranks in the WW division, the chance of GSP fighting Anderson is starting to diminish more and more.

Not sure how much we've touched on it here, but the subject of fighters turning to shit after a champ beats them has been covered before. Especially in regards to GSP. Anyways, someone on Reddit had this list for GSP opponents.

Fight record after championship bout:

Matt Hughes: 4-5
Josh Koscheck: 2-2
Matt Serra: 1-2
Jon Fitch: 6-2-1
BJ Penn: 3-4-1
Thiago Alves: 2-3
Dan Hardy: 2-3
Jake Shields: 1-1-1
Carlos Condit: 0-1

Fight record before championship bout: (UFC only)

Nick Diaz: 7-6
Matt Hughes: 14-2
Josh Koscheck: 7-2 (without counting prior non-championship loss)
Matt Serra: 5-4
Jon Fitch: 8-0
BJ Penn: 10-2-2
Jake Shields: 1-0
Thiago Alves: 8-2
Dan Hardy: 4-0
Carlos Condit: 5-1

Now it should be obvious that pre-fight records are inflated by fights against lower tier guys as they work their way up. And POST-fight records are hampered because they will be mostly fighting top tier guys since they are considered contenders. Which makes the fact Fitch never got a rematch look even more silly=P

That's a good point. He has a powerful left hook but it's very limited.

The diff between him and Koscheck, though, is that Hendricks charges in and throws his left hook. Kos never did that from what I saw.

If I recall with Kos anytime he would make any movement forward his face promptly met GSP's fist with that jab. He was never able to get any offense going, and GSP's jab just destroyed his face.

Yeah he annihilated Kos' face with that jab. Hopefully Hendricks' camp has him watching Mike Tyson and Roy Jones on a loop to learn to throw that lunging hook with a lot of head movement. His current technique or running straight forward and wailing it out there is a recipe for a ruined orbital bone.

He throws one legit hook and then 3 arm punches with the same hand. Awful.

tuf spoilers for tonight's episode

Kevin wins round 1, Bubba wins round 2, and Kevin quits between rounds

quarterfinals:

Collin vs Kelvin

Dylan vs Luke

Josh vs Jimmy

Uriah vs Bubba

I guess Bubba's the one Dana referred to as having a panic attack before fighting Uriah.

Couple things...

1: Not spoilering because it's aired now.
2: What the fuck, UFC? 1 airing? Show the shit again 3 hours later like normal, assholes. I got too much shit to DVR.
3: They didn't show it, apparently Kevin had to go to the hospital and was diagnosed with Acute Renal Failure, basically his kidney was shutting down.

Ok, so that was actually happening? Sure they showed him talking about how it happened to him during a fight before and he felt the same way then but they never concluded it. I assumed they would show it next week.
