I had this recorded since I wasn't going to be home when it came on tonight but I just finished watching maybe 30 minutes ago and now after reading various articles and the "pros react" tweets, I'm blown away that there is such controversy over this fight. It seemed pretty clear cut to me it was 2-1 for Moose.
I mean yeah Shlemenko landed that huge bomb in the beginning of the first round (that no doubt broke Moose's orbital) but that alone doesn't win you the fight. I don't even think that hit staggered or wobbled Moose but it definitely hurt him as he took Shlemenko down right away and that's where the whole round stayed with Moose on top trying to sink in submissions. Round 2 I expected Shlemenko to come out and really push the pace hard against Moose but it he didn't. He was missing so many of his strikes and spinning shit he might as well of been shadow boxing. Eventually Moose takes him down and starts bringing it to him on the ground. Round 3 was the only round that Shlemenko clearly won, and I guess some could call it a 10-8 but it certainly didn't look like a 10-8 domination in my mind.
Either way I feel like Bellator's and Shlemenko's stock just went up in this fight. You got a fighter in his last fight was one of the top UFC MW's and just beat another top UFC MW who was also the ex-champ of their division and now almost got his ass kicked by a Bellator fighter. Win/win for them imo, and Moose's stock doesn't really change at all and no doubt that eye is gonna keep him sidelined for awhile now.
