Yoel Romero fails to make weight ahead of interim UFC middleweight title fight against Luke Rockhold

Weight cutting is the problem again. What a surprise?

Romero lost out on $$ but as long as he wins he's next in line for the title shot so he's happy.

Rockhold got more $$ and gets to fight a dude that spent 2 hours to cut half a pound so of course he's going to take the deal after milking the UFC for more money.

Meanwhile the sport loses credibility and the company spins its PR machine because at the end of the day they know we only care about what happens during those 25 minutes inside the Octagon.

It looked like it. It was like he landed straight legged. Maybe he did it during the fight and the adrenaline kept him going?

Figured Romero would catch Rockhold with something. Dumbass probably tore his ACL jumping off the cage.

I didn't mind the Blaydes/Hunt fight that much...I was hoping Hunt would be able to keep it on his feet, but he was done.

That Tai Tuivasa did some fucking work on Asker.

Also, Adesanya looked great in his debut.

Rockhold talked so much shit when he won the belt from Weidman, talked about how no one in the division had anything for him. Very unimpressive since then.

Yeah refusing 100% of eye contact with Yoel, not even giving him a millisecond of acknowledgement didn't sit well with me.

Granted Yoel has absolutely no right to be in his face-- less so after being knocked out, ....still. The deliberate looking above and away was some of that Rockhold arrogance you are talking about. If he just looked away signalling he didn't want to hear any of it, that's one thing. The whole head jerking up and away with eyeballs flying around with extra umph spoke volumes about his personality.

Alternatively. The dude didn't make weight. He doesn't deserve any respect. Two sides to everything.

That fight was a load of shit. Dude grabbed the inside of the gloves and went for the eye gouge – neither of those things happens accidentally. My money is on Dana not ranting too hard, though. That shit is 100% on the fighter, then 100% on the ref for allowing it. UFC has a growing eye gouge problem; sometimes these gouges happen "accidentally" in striking exchanges, but Matthews had the dude dead to rights until the scum tried anything to survive. Perma ban by state commission, huge fine please. I hope that fight of the night bonus all goes to Matthews because I don't know how you justify paying that cheater.

Blaydes looked good. Can he exploit Ngannou the same way??? Smart fighting and some good wrestling. That rematch is tempting but I don't blame the kid if he doesn't want it yet, high risk high reward. If he can talk his way into an Ngannou fight, he's looking at a title shot around the end of the year. It's like we forgot Mark Hunt was there. Dana White has got to be happy about this.

Rockhold was disappointing. He didn't do anything, not sure what he was waiting for. Romero getting into his face after knocking him out was classless, I don't know what you all want from the guy. Luke probably didn't know what the fuck was going on and the guy who turned his lights off was talking about who knows what, I wanted to see Yoel get sucker punched, so Kudos for Luke keeping his shit together.


This was a great finish. Not sure how far Pedro can climb in the rankings, but that sequence was entertaining as it gets.

Rockhold says LHW move is imminent. I like that move. He's arrogant, yeah, but he can be fun to watch. He's also pretty big at MW. He made Weidman look a lot smaller when they fought.
