Dana announced they're going to have a ranking system starting next week after this weekend's fights. 90 media members will vote, along with Fightmetric in some way or other. Fights will not be strictly determined by rankings though, DFW says they'll still make "fights fans want to see".

A few years ago Dana promised a ranking system within a couple months, but nothing ever came of it.

He also said they are going to add a 115 lb. weight class yesterday. Fuck that. I'd rather see Ronda Rousey fight than those fucks.

I remember when Dana used to spout off that they didn't have a million weight classes like boxing and used it as a slight. How times have changed.

145 is about as low as I can take. The fights just aren't interesting to me at all when there's virtually no chance of someone finishing. I have less than zero interest in 115.

Johnson vs Dodson was hilarious with John McCarthy was in the frame. It was like 2 little kids fighting and Dad had to step in and break them up.

I think it's as close as we're gonna get to sanctioned midget wrestling.

I think sub 145 is only viable if they cut the cage size in half. Making guys that are 6'5" 265lb fight in the same space as 5'3" 125lb guys is just ridiculous.

Saw that Kimbo deal yesterday... he's lucky he punches so hard. Dude has no stamina at all. Dying for breath in the 1st round?!

Yeah, while i thought it was a great fight, and maybe it was me watching too much game of thrones, but i swear they were midgets. Heads too big for their bodies with short arms and everything. There are entertaining fighters sub-145, dodson being the only one i can think of at flyweight, but 135 has some great finishers. Wineland, mcdonald, menjivar when he is not striking. Its just that cruz and dj rule their divisions and have negative two finishes between them. 115 is completely unncecessary and ridiculous.

Overeem not looked like his ripped self at weigh ins. Still huge but not nearly as dry.

Looks like Alistar had to lay off the horsemeat.

Also, good to see Kimbo has been working on his takedowns, he's mixing it up nicely, albeit in a boxing match.

Overeem looked about the same, maybe .5 body fat more, so like 1.5%.

So, Rashad easily out-wrestled Phil Davis. And Phil Davis, with some difficulty, out-wrestled Little Nog. I find it way too likely that Rashad is gonna smother Nog. He's gotten over the phase where he thinks he's an elite striker, Machida showed him the error of that thinking. So he's not gonna stand and trade with Nog when he starts getting the short end of the stick. And the odds of Nog catching him in a sub from the bottom are not high, he's the wrong Nog for that to seem likely.

Curious to see which Jon Fitch we get.

Get your picks in, don't be an asshole like Grimmlokk.

There's a very real chance that Edgar will run him in to the ground with cardio. Aldo has had some issues there in the past, and by all reports Edgar shouldn't have had any issue making weight, he was always undersized at 155. If Aldo can't land those leg kicks as counters early he might end up gassed and just looking like Penn in the 2nd fight with Frankie.

I doubt it. Aldo's fight against Hominick was an anomaly IMO. Im not saying he has super cardio, I just think that performance was not indicative of his overall ability. Edgar is a great all-around fighter, and does have a real chance of winning tonight, but Aldo counter striking is a good recipe for fighting Edgar and his spastic pace. You know Frankie is going to move move move so Aldo shouldnt chase him around. If he stands his ground and forces Edgar into a striking match its not going to end well for him. Also, Edgar has had issues with getting blasted early in fights. If he lets Aldo strike him for minutes at a time (when he is at full strength and stamina) its going to be good night Irene.

edit: And Overeem wins big tonight. If Cain stopped Silva the way he did, Overeem is going to fucking obliterate him. Silva better just try and take him down and smother, because he has absolutely no fucking chance striking with a K-1 grand prix heavyweight champion.

Agree on the cardio. Frankie also caught a ton of Bendo's kicks but a lot were body kicks and he didn't really do shit when he did catch them. He needs to catch them and blast for a takedown, but Aldo's TD is good so that may not even work.
