I don't think he was gassed at all. I think that, for once, Rogan was actually right when he was saying Overeem had absolutely no respect for him and paid for it.
Exactly what happened. He was way to overconfident from the very start, chin out, hands down the whole time, and paid the price big time. Figure a guy with 48 professional fights would be more smart lol.

God there is still two more fights, there is no way these next 2 live up to that upset. Volkmann/Overeem in one night, dear jesus.

Awesome fight. Makes up for the terrible Fitch fight before it. Overeem just got buttfucked, and I love it.

I actually liked the Fitch fight. I could watch Fitch fight off a Damian Maia class grappler chaining submissions all night.

I don't know after they got stood up and big foot came at him his movement seemed really sluggish and especially after he took that one hit at the end of the round. I really felt he slowed down tremendously.

What was the deal with Overeem and Silva anyways? Why did they even have bad blood between each other / Reems complete lack of respect toward him? Was it some shit said during pre-fight interviews or something?

I'm with you on that one. That fight was like the more technical/methodical version of Nelson vs Carwin, Immovable Object vs Unstoppable Force, except in grappling. Fitch got dominated, but he can't be submitted by the best the UFC has to offer, and that says something to his credit.

Agreed. There is a difference between that fight, and a fight like Bader vs Rampage where he simply laid on him for 3 rounds with minimal damage and never any threat to finish. Watching grappling matches where there is some actual action is dope.

Yeah it says Maia is a worthless piece of shit who doesn't deserve to be fighting on a PPV main card. If you're as one dimensional as Maia and can't finish someone when you spend damn near 15 minutes with his back and either double hooks or a body triangle, you need to keep your sorry ass on the undercard. I mean seriously, grappling is the only fucking thing Maia can do, and he couldn't finish after having Fitch's back all fight long.

*edit*

The supposed bad blood had something to do with Silva leaving the Blackzilians right before or immediately after Overeem joined.

I think Overeem was just selling the fight, honestly. I imagine that Silva took it seriously though.

Wait, what? You think his standup is overrated because he fought like an idiot for one fight?
Nah, his standup is great but it's overrated by a lot of people. I don't want to iterate the holes in his game and how he had an easy K1 championship win because the guy just lost. But he's not the unstoppable striking monster he was acting like he was.
