Most of the non damage set perks (earplugs/tremors/windproof/guard etc) are negated by good play since you can block, roll or shoulder charge immunity them or just rocksteady/evade mantle.

For solo play I agree, but in any form of group, I'm not good enough predicting/timing the counter attack iFrames due to the variability of monsters movement in particular ping ponging between range and melee, switching targets and also having other melee doing minor knockbacks is a huge pain in the ass.

Yeah I rarely group outside of playing duo friends who are still slogging through story mode. No one joins my SoS on Xbox regardless of all the settings I have messed with and the "fail to join" crap is obnoxious since it usually happens 10-15 times before I get a successful entry. I stopped using Palico too outside of bow usage.

Its messed up on PSN also, I usually just post my own investigations since theyre so plentiful and just SoS instantly. If they could fix that fail to join and maybe make larger hubs for people to group at it would go a long way to making multiplayer better.

I think I read one of you guys post it was better in the old MH series, weird they went backwards.

Yeah MH:W Xbox has some issue with people being unable to join your SoS. I tried changing pretty much every setting on the console and game, but no luck.

As far as the older series it functioned better, but I wouldn't say it was great at least on console.

For how big budget this game was and it being heavily advertised for multi you'd think they would have gotten some good ux designer/ui engineers on it, but it seems like it was a last minute addition.

To be fair..its capcom. Even non SOS playing with my son I get booted from his session on occasion.

I know I was at 200 hours last week easily but I afk a ton since I'm playing with all pugs anyway now. I think its easier to measure 1 level is 3 tempered elder investigations, sometimes 4 which take 8-12 minutes each.

Youd be proud of me now btw sensei, I run with 0 defense and all offensive jewels and stuck with SnS. I wreck now that I know how to play the game properly damage wise and almost never getting hit. Im even more excited for PC now.

Nice! Yeah I switched over to full offensive long sword. Really need to learn how to do the evade slash to build meter instead of just the combo. Even messed with hunting horn and while I like it..fuck keeping those buffs up. Rather just pop demon/armor drugs. Also started using rocksteady mantle. Holy shit am I behind on that god tier accessory. Nerg never even leaves the first room.

Theostra the Toastah I run Legianas

Yeah I need to farm up a lot more shit son. I have a lot of optinal quests left and I dont even have the rocksteady mantle or anything. Need to play.

Is elemental better for tempered elders? It feels like the status quo is still pure raw, no?

Raw is pretty much only king for hammer, charge blade, switch axe, and greatsword. Elemental is far better on fast weapons and (especially) bow.

I was struggling with Tempered Elder 15m quests until I learned to use what they're weakest too. I guess I was too new / bad at the game. Now though at HR99 I average about 8-10 minutes for any elder using Sword and Shield which isnt that great of DPS.
