No one thinks these mechanics make the game hardcore, it's what you little no-life nerds think is "hardcore". Neither is anyone trying to "change the game into WoW".
This is true, but there are legions of mouthbreathers that are trying to do more or less that, and each slip gives them more ammo. If the devs relent on anything, it's just noise to be used against them, and you will literally slippery slope into why mmo's are so gay in current year. Why don't we have combos for classes? I need more APM. Waaah, my feelings clash with their stated design goals.

I don't see any benefit on shitting on the devs for making the game they want to make. I'm down for their idea, and i'll support it with cash when it's avail. But even if the local armchair prognosticators are right, and you've shoved their failure in their face. What are you expecting to happen? They're doing it because thats the game they want to make, and this is test whether it is viable. iirc they still all have real jobs, so i'm sure it'd be sad times if it doesn't work out, but i highly doubt you're invested in the survival of their corp.

If you actually think there are legions of mouthbreathers following MnM, or even aware of what MnM is, and trying to turn it into WoW… then you are the mouthbreather.

Not saying that modern-day WoW is anything short of a shitfest, but OG WoW - WotLK was basically just a better version of EQ. So, it's always hilarious to me when these boomers who've been living in 1999 for the past 26 years shit on it like it's some sort of major slight, all because they're buttmad it destroyed their precious.

Go play one of the many WoW clones or other "hyper QoL" retail retard fests and "fast server" emus. It's exactly what you want.

"No those suck" - okay welcome to our point.

The company is literally named NICHE World Cult. Hmmm I wonder what their goal is. Mass appeal?

While I get it, I do think the slower, more methodical combat of EQ had it's benefits. It kind of let you sit back and chat with people.

I do think that some classes (Hello Warrior) could use a bump from the classic EQ days to keep it from being boring, though.

It was a better game as far as graphics, code, and gameplay, but it was not the same level of MMO that EQ was. In WoW you only grouped or raided with your guild and that was it. The interactions you had with the rest of the server was minimal at best. I enjoyed both but if I had to pick one era to relive it'd be EQ

Oooof. People didn't do this in EQ? No wonder you guys have the mistaken impression that CRs were "hard", or happened at all for that matter.

The only time I ever "pugged" in EQ, it was with other members of top raiding guilds. I've seen the mouthbreathers present on TLPs 26 years later of honing their skills on that masterpiece. I can't imagine how bad it was in 2000, before people had built the skillset EQ required to become the MMO gods they are now.

No, the difference was that even when you grouped or raided, there was only one zone, instead of everyone being in their own sanitary instance. Helping other groups break camps, clear for CR's, clear trains, etc.

Oh, you mean back when the internet was small as shit and the "gaming" community was around 600% smaller?

Yeah, I wish I could live in that world too. We can't.

Yeah what magic wand do they think they have 😏

I've heard that one before
They may have a magic wand, but they do not have any business sense and no legal counsel on retainer, unfortunately. All the talent in the world isn't going to amount to a hill of beans if they can't get their product to market in a way that can survive. It is a pretty EQ clone, though.

Shawn has produced very profitable games. That's why he's able to hang out in Germany and work on a passion project all day. He posted a summary of their financials a while back and they had only spent ~$150,000 in 4 years of development; a lot if not most was on legal. If they can make it this far while spending 5% as much as what other teams are spending, I think their business sense is okay.

What exactly are you seeing as sueable? There is no IP stuff being reproduced that I've seen. It's not illegal to make a game that pays homage to another game, it happens all the time. You don't seem to have any idea what you're talking about about here
