They just settled on this really generic art style for everything and that's not the MTG I fell in love with.

Invasion was all dark and moody, then Mirrodin had that weird but awesome magic/tech aesthetic. Ravnica had all the crazy buildings merging with nature etc.

A lot of the premium spells actually look pretty awesome, tranny porn and plagerism aside. The spells in each set could have some really wild art and save the more realistic stuff for creatures/planeswalkers, with of course a better artistic identity for each set.

I really love the Lorwyn block art. Even if you're not a fan, you see one of those cards' art and you know where it came from. The AD did a fantastic job of making sure everyone was on the same page.

I do think "leaning into recursion" is a valid option if they really feel like increased card draw for White is a mechanical problem. Makes for some cool cards.

How many of you actively play arena these days? If so how much do you grind per week and how well does your collection keep up? How much do you throw at it monthly etc?

I kinda wanna monkey around in the new historic format before it gets solved, but holy shit my rough napkin math on how much the buy in would cost is uh, daunting.

I honestly play a lot, but mostly Brawl. I find there to be more variety.

I wish Historic Brawl were a thing: I had a blast this past week for the festival event

I find Standard to be mostly mirror matches and same old shit

I did my dailies and drafted well and never had to spend any money. I have not played since WoW: Shadowlands, nor did I play much at all when Eldraine and Theros came out in November and have basically infinite wildcards.

At this point, the initial buy-in is pretty expensive but you shouldn't ever have to spend money again if you play regularly and draft well.

yeah it wasn't hard to go infinite. i did buy the eldraine prerelease pack thing though for the gingerbread lady sleeves though. was worth.

Mirage was a fun set - the theme fit. This does not. I notice a lot of purple/green hairs, too.

This is just peak WOTC and doesn't surprise me one bit. Being a decade late to ape a cancerous fandom is exactly the kind of shit I expect out of them, because most of their staff and their fanbase are literally this:

Finally getting shelving and shit set up at the new place for the magic shit. Gaze upon the glory of random bulk edh commons and uncommons boxes!

Glad to have it off the fucking floor like a savage. Probably just get a second one for modern=>standard.

Dunno what to do for the rare-binders, I normally had them laying flat, but that was in a house with a lot more space to spread out over.

Ive bought (and returned) too many cards with binder impressions. I keep my binders on thier sides such that the pages hang down. So far so good.

One of the box companies makes 10 row card hotels with color coded boxes. I ended up grabbing two of them and it gives me ample space for the bulk junk. I keep it loosely organized by color and first letter, but mostly I never have to go into them. All the playable stuff is in Dex chests 4 to a penny sleeve.
