The meta for comp events is to wear a dress now:

This isn't what MTG trannies do, there were a few back when I used to play.

They make minimal effort, so it's the same scruffy hoodie/tshirt as before and one token feminine thing. One wore women's leggings and one had painted finger nails. That's it.

So the meta would be to be clearly male so people misgender you and you don't look like a clown to regular people, but then have that token effort so you can credibly claim your gender to the judge - like trans flag painted fingernails (wear gloves outside).

Sleeve your deck in alternating blue pink and grey sleeves and if anyone shuffles your deck on presentation call the judge for transphobia

Was thinking of getting into a TCG with my son. Something, where we could play a few games against each other, have some fun, and both can have fun collecting the cards. He really likes making binders full of Pokemon cards at the moment.

I suppose I may have answered my own question if he's already collecting Pokemon, maybe that's the TCG to continue with. Is Magic easier at all to get into these days? I haven't really looked at it in 20 years.

MTG is a gateway drug to being transgender at the moment.

Also consider that collecting might be interesting as the company now makes thousands of different kinds of artwork for one card.

I'm actually less interested in collecting due to that. Bling is kind of pointless when it's raining from the heavens and nobody has any idea what version came from where.

It's like mount recolors in WoW.

A single prize pack from playing modern today. You can't even look at this and tell what half of it, much less what set any of it is from or why any of looks the way it does or where it's legal to play it:

My son started collecting Pokemon because the kids at school did. So I was like, well fuck if I'm paying all this money, we're going to learn to play, so we did. The end goal being MTG, which I've only recently gotten him into playing.

Depends how old your son is (we started Pokemon at 6, MTG at 9), but Pokemon is probably a better starter game both because every pack has a foil card (ohhh shinies) and the game is significantly easier to play. I made some MTG decks for us to play out of my boxes of common cards, picking out pretty basic creatures and spells, just because the game can be stupidly overly complicated these days if you're just starting out AND young.

Bonus - Pokemon packs/boxes are typically a little cheaper, but you get chances at pulling cards quite literally worth hundreds of dollars even from new sets. My son is quite happy knowing (and I'm sure bragging to his friends) that he has 2 cards each worth several hundred dollars. Cards dad keeps in a special tin for him so they stay in good condition.

Finally, antagonizing your opponent taken to the next level. Discarding, counterspelling, and milling are so 90s. Just imagine the pain you'll cause by forcing someone to look at that "art".

At least I still have legacy, where there's no zoomers or troons because they can't afford it, and us normal people can enjoy the game in peace and call each other fags.

"Each card in this drop was illustrated by an LGBTQIA2S+ artist"

That's real text in a real article.
Excuse me, but I do not see proper representation of lesbian women. Hot lesbian woman soaking in heated pools with no shirts...playing with each other. If guys have to show nipples, so can woman.

Where’s the best place to buy cards these days? Pokémon or MTG?
