I always loved the Theme decks. Great for playing "Drinking Magic". They aren't over powered and pretty even.

Drinking Magic:

Drink at the beginning of your turn.
Every time you play a permanent... drink.
Every time you lose a permanent... drink.

Token decks beware.

Anything in the battlefield zone is a permanent. This doesn't count things that hang around the battlefield like imprinted cards or ciphered cards, those are actually in exile.

still unsure how emblems are considerd though
Not permanents. They're not in the in-play zone. They're in the command zone. You can't interact with them in any way, other than via restarting the game via something like a Karn ultimate.

No, this is drinking magic.

(Some assembly required.)

I've seen lots of fake or pretend cards over the years but I must say, those are pretty clever. They're funny, they make you drink, they have 'flavor' as in the card titles make sense to what they do, and they stay in character to each color (well, mostly).

Morningwood Seraph. She's like Serra Angel but with daddy issues.

Good stuff.

It's built to be played as an actual cube. You print all the cards out and make proxies out of them, get 6-8 players, shuffle up the proxies and put them into random 'packs' of 15 cards. Then you draft the packs as normal. Then you play a big fucking multiplayer game with the decks you drafted.

I really like the deck and it's a lot of fun, but in my meta (Card Kingdom in Seattle) there seems to be a lot of RW burn decks. There aren't many mono-black devotion decks so I was thinking of replacing the two Dark Betrayals in the side board with Bow of Nylea to shore up my RW burn matchups. I do also want to take this deck to GP Vancouver, but I'm not so sure it'll be a good idea. If I do, then I'll keep the Dark Betrayals in the side board.

What do you guys think?

What, realistically, does it take to get back into magic with an up-to-date deck, keeping in mind I haven't bought any cards since 2002. I'd start fresh, to make sure everything is in play, probably. What am I looking at money wise?

Are red decks still sorcery/instant damage heavy? Always favored high magic damage decks.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific as what you mean by "back into magic".

The cost varies greatly depending on what style you like. Recently my friends started playing commander a couple times a month, with the option to proxy if you contribute 5 bucks to the nights pizza fund.
