With that much mana you are better off casting an entwined "Tooth and Nail", searching for a "Xenagos, God of Revels" and an "Emrakul, the Aeons Torn" A hasted Emrakul with +15/+15 is a scary sight.

My deck in modern is also an " Amulet of Vigor" deck, and honestly you are better off going with a build that utilizes "Primeval Titan" and "Hive Mind" as win cons. It let's you go off on turn two fairly often and turn three most of the time. Plus if you go with the version that did well at the pro tour that uses "Simian Spirit Guide" you can sometimes go off on turn one.
I really wish I could afford the Primevil Titan build. Its about 2-3 turns faster.

I built this deck with a $50 budget in mind and it might run me mid $60. I just wanted something my friends will cry at if it happens. We just play for a fake trophy that changes hands every weekend so its not super serious.

I have a back up deck list if I cant find the cards I need today.

Back up is...

Torpor orb
Hunted phantasm
Hunted horror
Eater of days
Trickbind
Sundial of the infinite

Brainstorm is a card I find to be very interesting. It wasn't regarded highly when it was first released (and for good reason, shuffle effects were incredibly far and few between) and I know that it starts to become a problem with Urza Block but I wonder if there was a time prior where it could have really been exploited and just wasn't.
Not entirely true. I won a PTQ back durin Ice Age block constructed playing Brainstorm with Thawing Glaciers! Counterpost splashing Stone Rain.

How? Mana was never an issue with prosbloom. It was getting all the different pieces needed to go off.
I'm guessing by floating additional mana, but I don't really think 3 mana for a specific card is better than pitching something else useful for 2.

It does remind me though... I really wish ProsBloom was a thing in Legacy. Or something like it. Squandered Resources, maybe.

Block ProsBloom, Mike Long's winning deck from Pro Tour Paris before Squandered Resources was banned

UTILITY (18)
4 Infernal Contract
4 Impulse
4 Vampiric Tutor
1 Three Wishes
2 Memory Lapse
1 Power Sink
1 Elven Cache
1 Emerald Charm

COMBO (17)
4 Cadaverous Bloom
4 Natural Balance
4 Squandered Resources
4 Prosperity
1 Drain Life

LAND (25)
4 Undiscovered Paradise
3 Bad River
7 Forest
6 Swamp
5 Island

Sideboard:
3 City of Solitude
4 Elephant Grass
1 Elven Cache
3 Emerald Charm
1 Memory Lapse
1 Power Sink
2 Wall of Roots

Lion's Eye Diamond is in Mirage so could this deck be improved by its inclusion? Cast Infernal Contract or Prosperity and sac in response is going to be a net negative for mana if you have to discard even one card provided you have Cadaverous Bloom in play. Remember, Bloom turns every card into your hand into GG or BB. If you have to discard Drain Life + Elven Cache you lose or if you discard Drain Life and fizzle trying to find Elven Cache you probably lose. Really only looks useful with a hail mary draw spell when you were going to lose next turn. Dark Ritual is also a spell in Mirage and that didn't make the cut in Bloom.

Mike Long's U.S. Nationals Top 8 Pros Bloom deck, Standard legal

UTILITY (21)
4 Infernal Contract
4 Meditate
4 Impulse
3 Vampiric Tutor
2 Memory Lapse
2 Power Sink
2 Abeyance

COMBO (16)
4 Squandered Resources
4 Natural Balance
4 Cadaverous Bloom
3 Prosperity
1 Drain Life

LAND (23)
4 City of Brass
4 Gemstone Mine
5 Island
5 Swamp
4 Forest
1 Plains

Sideboard:
2 Abeyance
4 Chill
1 City of Solitude
1 Elephant Grass
2 Emerald Charm
3 Gloom
2 Pyroblast

The inclusion of Meditate gives more options to use LED but it's hard to see where it fits into the deck. Still has the same problems as the block deck.

Brainstorm in the Standard Pros Bloom looks a bit more interesting. It's got a fair amount of shuffles and can fix your hand way better than Impulse can.

WW was not good against it until aura of silence. And while aura didn't counter the deck it did make it way more difficult to go off

New Ajani seems a bit overrated for super friends archetypes but may find a home elsewhere. I'll be trading him away if I get any since a lot of people seem to like him.

The new Nissa, on the other hand, I am actually excited about and want to see what is possible with her. Not sure if she slots into the naya deck I currently run since the five drop slot has Ajani, Mentor of Heroes and Stormbreath Dragon but she will find a home.

With darksteel citidal I standard 4/4 trample indestructible sounds cool.

Should be eazy to ramp into turn 3/4. Play her and courser turn three mmm.

Pretty excited about this set. Going to draft the shit out of it. My play group has really enjoyed drafting core sets.

I could also see her in a bant control shell of some kind. Turn five play her then supreme verdict. Then on turn six she enables an Elspeth that can be protected by counter magic. Not sure if the mana base supports those kinds of plays though. Plus she can be a finisher all on her own with a steady stream of 4/4 lands.

But yeah being able to drop two threats in a single turn in the current meta is absurd, especially against decks like U/W and mono-black which are designed to one for one you.

She only untaps forests. You better have some very specific lands to play her then verdict.

Yep that is what I mean. Only issue is, I am still unsure if eight shocks are consistent enough to pull it off. Regardless I am sure someone will try to do it.

Well until Ravnica rotates, bant with shocks will have no problem untapping Forests to cast Verdict.
It's not no problem. 8 lands out of 25-26 are going to be shock forests. The likelihood of having 4 forests in play to untap on turn 5 is very very low. And then 2 have to be white.

Nissa is going to be best in decks that don't wrath anyway. Either rampy tap-out control decks, or midrange beatdown decks (which are basically the same thing now.)

Just got my old CCG collection folders out for the first time in over 10 years. Pleasantly surprised to find I have over 40 of the original dual lands. Sat there on the loo poring over them like Gollum. Hundreds or thousands of cards (all rares) I need to sort through to see what's junk and what's worth something.

Aside from Magic I have stacks of Netrunner, Shadowfist, original Lo5R, Guardians, original Lord of the Rings, original Star Trek cards, Should I presume there's not much worth anything amongst those ?

There's really not much value for those older games. When I was cleaning out piles of games I just threw it on eBay divided by game in the hopes some other nerds somewhere were still playing that shit.

There are always nerds still playing that shit.

Everything that isn't MTG, like 6 pokemon cards, or some yugioh crap is firewood.

Enjoy the new car those duals will get you if they're in decent condition.
