Because Phil is banging his sister and he has a weird complex, that's my take.
Most accurate thing you've ever said here!

Dwight gets plenty of touches btw, the reason his shot attempts appear low is because the guy is a walking turnover machine in the post. He gets the ball one of four things happen. He gets stripped (alot), he gets fouled and misses his FT's (alot), he passes the ball back out, or he puts up a shot.

It's pretty much like everyone has ever said about the guy, if he loses any of his freak athleticism he won't be that good. Guy is struggling to run the floor, that back still aint right.

The Dwight trade was a good one. Ask Philadelphia how Bynum is working out for them. I'd rather have a healthy Bynum than a healthy Howard, but with 1.5 seasons of relative "good health" over 7 years, he is just too much of gamble for LA to keep.

Gasol isn't going to be traded unless they get a quality center in return, which means he won't get traded. If they do trade him for youth/shooters and Howard doesn't re-sign, LA would have lost Lamar, Bynum, Gasol, and Howard over two years. Gasol under contract for one more year is the safety net against Howard walking.

I don't think Howard will get traded either, but I'd support it. He's never going to be an offensive powerhouse in the post. His maturity will always be questioned. But the biggest reason is that a Howard trade goes against Jim Buss' philosophy and essentially is an admission that the D'Antoni hiring was a mistake.

The Mike Brown hiring was a mistake. Brown could never control LeBron, so who thought he could control Kobe? LA did have better defense in the first half of last season, but that was gone by mid-season, and by season's end they were a no D, no O team just relying on talent.

The Mike D'Antoni hiring is a mistake. He lost the respect of the Knicks players and quit on his team before he was fired, which should be a big red flag. The Knicks were much improved the minute he was gone as their post-D'Antoni record and stats show. Second red flag. And he was chosen over Phil Jackson?

The reason you hire Phil Jackson is his 11 rings and ability to manage players, not for his Xs and Os on the black board. No coach is a magic cure, but Jackson can tell Pau to suck it up and play hard, immediately call a timeout and bench Dwight after he gets stripped again, or tell Nash to run a play that doesn't involve Kobe when it's called for.

But baby Buss had to have his way.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Philly can't feel too bad, they have the same record as the Lakers do and eventually Bynum will come back. I'm not sure I see a way out of this for LA. They burned that Phil Jackson bridge and Jimmy Buss is probably too proud to admit he screwed up yet again with a coaching hire.

If I was in control I'd oust Jim and replace him with Jeanie then get her to beg her fiance to save this shit.

I remember being told constantly on FOH over the summer that DH was one of the all time great Centers. LOOOOOOOL.

Who said that? I said I didn't want to deal with this jackasses immaturity nor did I think his offensive game was any good. He WAS the best center in the league because of his freak athleticism and now that he's more mortal he looks like shit half the time. Maybe I'd have more patience if he could bother to hit 60% of his free throws.

Frankly, Brook Lopez may actually be a better center now. lol. 25.42 PER :O

If he wasn't such a whiny pussy he actually COULD be one of the greats - but his attitude has kept him from reaching his potential. Not even sure where the Lakers go from here to be honest. I certainly didn't see this coming. Saw a stat today that had the Lakers/Celtics are a combined 37-46. Kings/Bucks are a combined 38-45. WTF.

Did you guys forget 2007-2010? He was a beast and pretty much got a team of 3 pt shooters to the Finals and was the best defensive player in the league.

He just needs to get healthy and have a coach that won't take his shit, and a front office who has total confidence in that coach and won't allow Dwight to cry to have him fired.

If you are the Mavs/Cuban/Donnie Nelson you still go 100% in on Dwight despite how he has acted the last 2 years.

This Dwight is not that same Dwight. The east was also rather meh the year he got to the finals iirc. Lebron still on Cavs, KG hurt for the Celtics.

Thing is Pau took mostly jump shots last year and didn't shoot 40%. He was actually pretty productive. Hecanplay that way, or at least could in the past, it's just definitely not the best way to utilize him. This year is a mix of that and his shot just not falling.

Well D'Antoni has no idea what he's doing with post players. Pau is shooting 3 pointers this year and he has no idea how to get Dwight going.

I guess the face full of Lebron's junk was supposed to be some kind of bonus round.

Someone should tell him he's a month late if he planned on rehabbing in time to lead the NFL in rushing.
