Gaige, I have a very legitimately serious question for you. You rant and rave about the NBA fixing these games, but you aren't really serious about that are you? I mean everyone in this thread pretty universally agrees that NBA officiating is wildly inconsistent, and it typically swings to either team.

However, for there to be an actual fix put in by the NBA, that would be a scandal that would absolutely destroy the league if found out. Do you think that the commissioner has a secret meeting with the refs ahead of each game and tells them how to call it? I am just curious how you think this fix would get pulled off without anyone blowing the whistle on it. The amount of cover up needed for this would be ridiculous, and I can't believe that anyone, even someone as crazy as you, honestly thinks the NBA is trying to fix games.

They actually do have a meeting with refs before each game. Not the commissioner, I'm sure, but they tell them what calls they should be emphasizing and looking out for. Now, that could be abused, but the hope is they're just pointing out trends teams are getting away with and doing it equally and consistently.

NBA reffing is just shitty all around, but there isn't any conspiracy. There is contact every play. It's very subjective and while I'm sure they do try and be as fair as possible, things like player chatter and home crowds do get to them. Tack on that nearly half of the NBA refs are over 50 and you just have a crappy situation all around.

It's not an Illuminati conspiracy though. It's the same reason the lottery isn't rigged. There are just too many people involved for that type of thing to be true.

Which is really my point. But the way Gaige posts it sounds like he truly believes they are 100% rigged. And if he honestly believes that I want to know, or if it is really just more ranting from him because God forbid his boyfriend LeBron ever lose a game.

You mean like with Tim Donaghy? That shit got swept under the rug and his book basically got banned from being published.
Swept under the rug? He went to federal prison. If he had any evidence at all, or there was any merit to his claims that the NBA was rigging games there's no way in hell it would have been ignored. This was an FBI investigation, not the NBA's. A lot of NBA execs would be in prison right now if his claims had any merit.

Unless you think the NBA controls the FBI? That's Gaige territory crazy

Not only that, but if NBA reffing was rigged for all these years, that would mean that all of Lebron's pretty rings were bullshit. You can't have it both ways.

Even with the refs doing everything they could to make it go 7 games, Dirk still absolutely raped Lebron in 6.. With the flu

Maybe you should read Donaghy's claims first before responding with that dumbshit. JFC just read any NBA thread and it's the same shit after every game. People pretty much know they have a lesser chance of winning depending on who the officials are. That is the heart of his claims. Certain officials officiate things differently and they NBA puts them in certain situations to usually extend the series. It isn't down right fixing of games but it is pussy shit. All of that and the overall shitty quality of NBA officials and allowing them to be subjective on shit has created a culture of crying and suspicion.

This reminds me so much of Jose Canseco. They ignored his claims and laughed at the shit and the suddenly he turned out to be right. The media also keeps quiet on this shit because they are financially tied to the sports now.

Dirk was 9/27, Lebron was 9/15. I'm not sure that's "absolutely raped." Dirk was better in the second half, but it wasn't exactly a great night by him. Jason Terry carried that game.

There is clearly shady shit that happens from an NBA officiating perspective. Just look at how Joey Crawford treats Tim Duncan. There's just no league wide game fixing conspiracy.

Hey Slaythe, have you come around yet on Westbrook being the best PG in the league?

No I don't make knee jerk decisions based on small sample sizes.

CP3 is the best PG in the league, by a very significant margin. Curry is second. And Dragic had a better year than Westbrook did, but I'll give you that one based on overall track record.

Please don't quote per game stats and call me dumb. Let's just agree to disagree.

We all know the only thing that matters is an individual players overall scoring ability. Huge bonus if you can do it with pure athleticism. That's why Westbrook is the best point guard in the league!

Best PG in the league by a very significant margin, despite getting his shit pushed in by Westbrook in the playoffs. Good times. It isn't crazy to think CP3 is the best, but it is plain stupid to think it is a wide margin. You would think the best PG in the league could manage a single WCF especially when he has a MVP candidate on his team. Westbrook, during these playoffs, has been the 3rd best player in the league.

Also Curry doesn't play defense. Second my ass, he is just a shooter that cannot get to the rim.

When it comes down to it, not a single PG in the league can guard Westbrook. He can guard them all. That is why he is the best.

I know exactly what his claims were. He said the NBA instructed the officials to extend the LA/Sacramento series to 7 games. While people bitch about the referring in that series, the fact that he didn't come up with that until many years later means he chose it because it was an easy target.

You still haven't acknowledged the fact that the FBI were the ones that dealt with all of this and would have to be the ones "sweeping it under the rug". If they found any legitimacy to his claims that would have been so much of a bigger deal for them than 1 corrupt referee and they would have been all over it.
