Well... the [journalists following the] NBA made more that just suggest that this season considering Durant is the MVP.
Nobody on this board loves KD more than me, but being the MVP does not necessitate best player. KD had the best regular season but he isn't LeBron. Yet.

KD had the better year, but LeBron is still the better player. KD was the annoying try-hard.

I actually hope Lebron leaves Miami. F the Heat and F Wade. Lebron already left his hometown to join two other top ten players in the league, nobody should think any less of him now if he leaves Miami. In my eyes, he did the damage the first time; if he does it again how does it make him worse? If he goes somewhere else and wins a couple more titles we know he'd still be the one driving it.

I was gonna say I just hope he doesn't join the WC (unless he joins my team of course!), but you know what, fuck it. Western Conference playoffs would be all the more amazing if you throw him in the mix. May as well just officially call the Eastern Conference the D-League at that point and cancel their playoffs. More seriously though, it might be a good time to finally re-format the NBA playoffs to be top 1-16 seeded regardless of conference. Could kindle new playoff interest and make them all the more exciting. Some purists might scoff at it, but I think it'd be fun. Similar to baseball adding the Wild Card. While they're at it, they can reformat the fucking lottery as well!

You can't really blame the dude for leaving Cleveland. The way he went about it was shitty, sure, but I really don't see looking at that situation rationally and coming to the conclusion that he's some kind of lesser human being because he didn't stick with the team that drafted him. They're a franchise that is run shitty top down.

I never had a problem with him leaving Cleveland. My problem was always "The Decision" and the collusion that went on to get the three of them to Miami.

I'm seeing too many articles and posts lately rewriting history. He was in a bad position and most people would not have hated him for leaving Cleveland. It was the way he left that garnered the backlash. (This part wasn't directed at anyone here...just what I've been reading/hearing lately, in general.)

The problem here is if LeBron leaves Miami he once again is uprooting to go join someone else. Players should be flocking to the "BEST PLAYER" in the world not the other way around. This isn't Cleveland, this is Miami which should be a prime destination on anyone's wish list of places to play.

History likes to repeat itself, I'm hoping for another move to actual cement his career as less than Jordan because he had to move to do it. Jordan made players, lebrons moves to them.

Cleveland wasn't as terrible as everyone seems to think. They made the finals one year and had multiple seasons with 60+ wins, leading the league twice. Believing they were a hopeless team wasting Lebron's prime is flat out wrong.

They made the Finals one year and had multiple 60 win seasons BECAUSE OF LEBRON. Boozer was good, but they let him walk. Most of their Finals run, Boobie Gibson was their 2nd most important player. The team did nothing to bring in quality players. And no...bringing in an old, washed-up Shaq doesn't count as quality.

Are you one of those people that thinks Mike Brown was a good coach, too? Because SPOILER...he isn't good now and he wasn't good then.

Most intelligent people realized the team was devoid of talent except for Lebron even then. Good example of rewriting history, though.

So if a team cant win 60+ games without Lebron he shouldn't even play there? That's completely fair and logical.

They also should have made big sweeping changes to a team that was very close to a championship.

So when the fuck did it become the norm that the best players in the league and in LeBron's case the best player in the league to no longer go the all the trials and tribulations of becoming a champion, instead now they just pick and choose what team gives them the best chance of winning. This modern NBA is fucking horrible and LeBron is the ambassador of this bullshit.

Yeah but Wade could sabotage the Heat's cap situation and LeBron knows it, Wade is not worth anywhere close to max money now and probably shouldn't even be the starter. If LeBron wants to keep winning titles either 1) Heat have to re-tool their roster which requires Wade and Bosh taking way less money (and both can opt in for too much money) or 2) Leave Miami

Do you feel that Shaq's legacy is tarnished for the same reasons?

Ambi, you're right, the Cavs had success with LeBron there and they surrounded him with complimentary talent that played to his strengths. This strategy works when you have a good enough player, and are too cheap to bring in better players (see: Dwight era Magic teams). LeBron played one year with Boozer before he got the fuck out of Dodge and had Ilgauskas and Varajao for separate stretches as wells as a decent player in Mo Williams during his prime. Outside of that? Washed up Shaq, Ira Newble, Drew Gooden, Eric Snow, Damon Jones, Donyell Marshall, Larry Hughes, Sasha Pavlovic, Daniel Gibson, Devin Brown, Delonte West, Old Wally, Old Big Ben, Anthony Parker, JJ Hickson.

Those were LeBron's best starting teammates during his run in Cleveland. Please God, show me the light and explain to me what I'm not seeing. Seriously, he played with absolute dog shit in Cleveland and still made the finals.

Their owner is the guy that wrote this:http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pqOBRLICPO...0/openlett.jpg

That franchise was awful, God awful. If you're blaming him for leaving that dumpster fire you're just looking for reasons to pile on.

The Decision was really stupid and poorly planned and it made LeBron look like a dipshit. I don't disagree with that whatsoever, but the Cavs are probably tied with the Wolves for the second worst franchise in the league. Asking someone to overcome that just because of how good they are isn't fair.

I'll take Kobe, Dirk, and Duncan's legacy over Shaq or any other team hopper chasing rings any day.

Winning a championship for the team that drafted you and staying there your whole career has a sort of romantic quality about it.

I don't blame him for getting out of Cleveland, it's fucking Cleveland. But they did make an effort to put quality around him. Shaq and Antawn Jamison were definitely out of their prime but still decent pickups and were miles ahead of '06 Lakers wasting Bryant's talent with Smush and Kwame level train wrecks.

The Cavs just never got a gift like the Celtics did with the big 3, Lakers with that shady Jerry West Gasol trade, or Miami's big 3, but you can't really blame them for that.

As for Shaq, his legacy probably has suffered. He's on of the most underrated Centers of all time. People rarely mention him as one of the greatest even though he peaked a lot higher than Lebron did for a good 3-4 years.

This isn't a discussion about how good Shaq was, it's a question of you guys downgrading his legacy for ditching Orlando. Him going to LA and LeBron going to Miami are pretty similar.

Every day there's a new contender for "dumbest basketball take" in this thread. This one wins for today,by far.
