when I think of places to build up championship teams I think of cleveland, first place that comes to mind.

also lebron could have went to the clippers if he wanted to go win another one right away.
You know how salary caps work, right?

Cavs wouldn't have the cap space for both Love and Wiggins. Wiggins will be traded to the Wolves if they want Love. They won't land him in FA because he will bolt to LA which is his preferred destination anyways. Bosh just wanted the max I guess? or Houston couldn't clear enough cap space? I thought for sure he would be going to Houston and want to go to a contending team.
Yeah, Kevin Love will be such a terrible downgrade

Anyways, pretty sure he said he wanted to go to Cavs and why wouldnt he? Play with Lebron or play with Kobe? Tough choice there...

Either way Lebron ends up going to a stacked team, which is basically the only way he can win anything.

Eh, Love would likely change is mind if he can play with Lebron for the next 5 years or so. I just hope my Sixers are going hard for Wiggins right now with 1st round picks.

Isn't that generally the only way an individual can win anything in a team game? What a stupid statement.

No,

An individual can stay with a team, help it build up, training and mentoring younger players who are coming in, being a leader and a cornerstone of the franchise - instead of jumping ship as soon as things arent going the way you hoped.

Oh he can also take a pay cut when needed if he's truly serious about winning, instead of already extorting his new team for max salary contract and forcing them to deal their #1 overall draft within 2 weeks of drafting him.

Classy guy~!

He doesnt know how anything else works. Good chance he doesnt know salary caps either.
they could clear room trading deandre jordan pretty easily plus the new owner would be a multi billionaire i'm sure he'd be willing to go over the cap.

I think rings had something to do with Lebron's move back to the Cavs. He will turn 30 one month into next season. He needs 5 more rings to pass Jordan, 4 to tie, and 3 to equal Kobe and Duncan*. Given the circumstances, 1 ring in Cleveland is probably worth 3 more in Miami in terms of his modern legacy (for lack of a better word). Even winning 3 out of the next 5 is highly unlikely regardless of where he went (let alone 4/5 or 5/5 by age 35), and there is always the potential for real injury along the way that could derail even 1 more ring. So instead of (most) people talking about catching Jordan, Duncan, and Kobe, they'll be talking about that redemption ring.

I'm not doubting his desire to return to his home state, or the Cavs roster vs Miami's (although Riley + Spo > the Cavs org.), but going back to Cleveland, even if he never wins another, will take a lot of pressure off of him compared to staying in Miami because of the circumstances surrounding the entire situation.

I also hope this forces a rethink of the draft itself. LeBron doesn't go back to the Cavs without those 3 #1 picks and 2 #4s in the last 4 years. Contrast this with the #7 pick for the Lakers which is the highest they've had since 1984.

* I don't think Lebron needs to match rings with those players to be considered as good as or better than, given his stats.

On the bright side, Mitch McGary looks infinitely better than expected.
Yea, and Steven Adams looks like a solid contributor. I just don't understand how they haven't used the MLE on a pure shooter. Mind bottling.

Spoelstra never impressed me as a coach. In fact I think he's pretty bad. He's just been very fortunate to have a stacked team to do all of the heavy lifting for him. Coaching isn't hard when all you have to say is "go score some points guys." I'm actually interested to see how he does this season when he's actually going to have to work at his job. If he makes it, props to him but I just never saw him as all that great.

As for the Cavs organization, I'm not going to lie. It was terrible. It was downright awful. But "was" is the key word there. We've turned the organization around and while Gilbert has made some really bone headed moves (such as the letter), he's never been afraid to spend money for the good of the organization and I think the front office looks a lot better now than it has in years.

Why do you think the cavs have turned themselves around as an organization (beyond lebron coming back).

Their drafting?
The firing, hiring, and then firing of Brown?
the jack contract?

they have won some pingpong balls...

edit: forgot about Bynum and Deng.
