Harden isn't capable of playing great defense. He just doesn't have those instincts on that side of the ball, he can, with effort, play adequate to neutral defense, as shown last year. That effort just isn't there this season. Who knows why. Maybe he's realized that Dwight was the wrong big guy to hitch himself to.

Did you sign a guy paying him 7 to 8 figures knowing he couldn't hit free throws....good now deal with him being a liability. These teams did that shit to themselves. As for Harden, he's fucking the ugliest Kardashian and there's no defending that either!

They are shamelessy going all-out here in Toronto to get people to vote for Lowry and Derozan for all-star. As a Raptor fan, with the game being here and the team actually being pretty good it would be cool to see them both make it but I don't think it will happen. Lowry will make it, Derozan won't. Derozan puts up nice lines pretty often (34 pts 6 asst last night), but playing up here and having a throwback game that's sometimes a bit boring to watch - midrange, getting to the line a lot, few 3s - pretty much guarantee he flies under the radar.

If we find out tonight that Lowry made up the ground and got voted in as a starter, then I think DeRozan will definitely get put on as a reserve. I still think there's a good chance both get reserve spots even if he doesn't start, but I could see DeRozan getting overlooked in that scenario. Really, though, he was an All-Star two years ago and only didn't make it last year because he was hurt. And the coaches pick the benches, not the fans, so I don't think flying under the radar is a concern for this, especially having the 2nd best record in the East and hosting the game...makes too much sense to put both on the team, and both are deserving.

He's deserving too. Took Derozan fucking forever to get here but he's a damn fine player. He's cut out all the shitty shots he used to take and is playing much closer to a young Wade. That was always the best player comparison for him anyway and this year is definitely his best impression. I always thought he was a shoe in for that guy you have to pay too much to keep around but doesn't actually help you that much. Like Eric Gordon. Props to whoever got him to improve his shot selection.

KLOE! Well with Lowry starting I agree Derozan has a much better chance now. The fan base has a funny relationship with him I think - he's been here for years, is a great guy with great work ethic, but somehow hasn't become quite as beloved as many others less talented. Half the fans want to see him get traded at any given time, mostly for reasons that aren't his fault. He's been forced into the #1 option role a lot, and isn't totally suited/good enough for that. He also plays a game that analytics frown upon, with a lot of long and midrange 2s, and modern fans love analytics and the 3-ball. Both of those have improved this year though, as the team around him is good enough to take the pressure off and his shot selection, as Slathe said, has gotten better. I'll be happy for him if he makes the cut.

The problem with DeRozan (besides being a guard that cant shoot from 3) is that he relies so heavily on getting calls...which works fine during the regular season, but when the whistles tighten during the playoffs, that style doesn't work as well...as we've seen the last couple years. It doesn't work for DeRozan...doesn't work for Harden (who doesn't compare directly since he has a nice jumper), and hasn't really worked for Wade since his first Finals against the Mavs. I'm not a huge fan of that type of game, but I like DeMar as a person and the Raptors aren't getting a better SG anywhere else, so I won't be calling for his head.

With that said, DeRozan needs to be the 3rd option on this Raptors team. Lowry is the man, but Valanciunas should be the 2nd option. His offensive efficiency is amazing, but they don't go to him consistently. Casey might finally be getting all of this through his stubborn skull, though, as he finally started giving James Johnson minutes and I saw him stick with JV against the Celtics when they went small, something he never did in the past. JV made them pay for going small by controlling the glass on both ends. Now I just need to see the ball movement get back to what it was at the beginning of the year with Carroll in the lineup and for Lowry to stop doing that Steve Nash/Steph Curry thing where he comes down and shoots horrible deep 3s, then I'll feel confident that they can finally have playoff success.

18% of the Warriors' remaining games are against the Spurs or OKC. Sucks.

Wow, wtf! #1 record in the East and he gets fired. You have to think Lebron pushed for this, right?

I kind of hope they crash and burn now, heh.

Tyron Lue lol. Lebron just wanted a "Yes man" for a coach. Would be awesome to see this somehow lead to the Cavs not even making the Finals, unlikely as that may be.

They needed another coach to teach them to make an extra 2 passes to get the ball back to Lebron.

I think this opens the East up. I realize LeBron is the closest thing we've had to a player coach in decades, but I'm hoping this doesn't work out for them at all. I'll take Blatt in Toronto when we get knocked out of the first round for the third year in a row.

lol, fuck lebron and his mogul shit.
He's not going to win another title. No good coach is going to take the Cavs job if they're going to get fired midseason just because Lebron doesn't like them.

He's lucky he chose Miami where Spoelstra is actually a good coach, otherwise he would be 0-6 in the finals.

Edit: yes this is uneducated NBA fan wank opinion.

With Spoelstra backed by Riley. Riley, Phil Jackson, and Popovich are probably the only coaches that can control mega-stars like LeBron and Kobe.
