There's no reason for Lebron to sign a multiyear deal. He's intentionally doing 1 year deals so they can sign free agents and then bird right him and go over the cap. Also he retains his pseudo-GM status with an opt out every year.
Are you responding to me here? Thats why i specified the player option. This is most certainly what they'll do if they stay and are targeting next year's salary increase. The option gives them both injury protection and they hold the cards with the negotiation.

Every single free agent who has a shred oh intelligence is doing the same thing. 1 year deal now and cash in next year when the cap increases.

Ehhh, I expect some of the lesser talents getting 3-4 year max deals now, because of the upcoming increase. They'll take the deal, because it is their payday and injury concerns. I'm sure the would all love player options, but not every team is going to roll over in negotiations.

No I just think you're dumb.
Wow. Just wow. I mean, I know we go back and forth and all, but that one really hurt my feelings. I didn't think that was at all what you were saying. I thought you were actually saying.... something about... basketball. Just wow. That one hurt... Not nice at all.

Between this and the True Detective thread you are on a roll. Like a car doused in gasoline and set on fire and rolling down a hill kind of roll.

Keep it up guys! Far more entertaining than guessing where Love, Wade, Jordan, etc, etc, etc are going to end up.

Just to act like i'm here to add to the real conversation...I think Love stays for at least one year. Cleveland is a sure bet to go far next year and there are few sure bets anywhere else.

I wouldn't be shocked if Love signed a 5 year deal. Normally when big men start having back issues its time to go for the long term security over a possible payday in 2 years. My money is on the 1 year plus player option though. Wish my life had such difficult decisions such as "Do I take the less risky job right now and only make 110 MILLION DOLLARS the next five years."

David Aldridge Needs to die. The guys is seriously saying sixers should trade Noel to Boston for Marcus Smart. How can anyone take that guy serious now?? Amazing these people get paid to say shit Like that.

Sadly, we live in a world now where the only thing that matters is page views. Validity of content isn't even on a sports journalist's radar anymore.

It just blows my mind. The deal he floated was Noel and Covington for Smart and the dude that took love down lol. I mean wtf? I wasn't impressed at all by smart. If we trade Noel it's for Russell or Mudiay and that's questionable for me.

It's a story the masses can get behind because you can sit there and be like 'yeah the 6ers have 3 centers, whats up with that?' But ultimately falls apart with any real knowledge of the circumstances. Noel saw time at the PF spot last year, Embiid might have chronic foot injuries his entire career and Okafor is defensively limited. Noel, as of right now, is the only real proven asset that has panned out for that team.

I liked Smart coming into the league. He has monster defensive potential at the PG (like Eric Bledsoe level defense) and that's really valuable. Problem is, it's all potential. Noel's already proven floor is a defensive anchor for the next 15 years.

I like Smart, but not enough to give up Noel...that would just be a knee-jerk reaction to not getting Russell.

The PG the Raptors took at #20 seems to be a decent pick...hadn't heard of him before the draft, but I like the little I was able to read about him on my phone while I was in Chicago. Trading away Greivis Vasquez for a future 1st was awesome, though. He was a decent backup, but had plenty of faults and had trouble finding a role with Lou Williams on the floor. (For what it's worth, I still think they need to let Williams go, as well.) The pick is lottery protected, but that's fine with me...chance to add a role player or package it to move up next year if we need to. Could be an important asset depending on where the Nuggets and Knicks picks land next season, too.

Wright is the advanced stats PG of the late 1st round this draft. Great size with tons of defensive potential. Takes rookies a little while to learn NBA defense, but once he does he's a perfect fit next to Lou. Not much of a shooter but it's not like Lou ever passes the ball anyway.

I liked Wright for us at #21, but we will be just fine with Anderson.

Checking Rotoworld/Hoopsrumors every 10 min it seems. Aminu to Blazers for 4yr/$30 mil. Magic offered Millsap the max. Mavs want Matthews at 12mil /yr. Monta looks like he will sign with Pacers. Dragic staying in Miami.

Most disappointed that the Bucks and Middleton are close to terms on a deal. Not surprised...was just hoping they wouldn't see his value or that they'd try to lowball him or something.

Also interesting that Aldridge is meeting with the Raptors. He's meeting with several teams and is going to get offered the max from a few of them, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but that would obviously be an amazing grab for Toronto if they can pull it off. Still most concerned about filling that hole at SF, though.

Ask and you shall receive!

DeMarre Carroll has agreed to a four-year, $60 million deal with the Raptors.

It's an upgrade over Ross, but not sure I'm entirely convinced he's worth that much. But if the cap explodes next year, then the deal will probably look like a steal. Getting that piece locked in so soon after FA started is a huge relief for me.
