What changed with pets? Only thing i noticed is it lost a few levels when summoned. Was still a speed bump that didnt cast spells and didnt notice any blocks, multi attacks, or even hit any harder. (This is as a necro with the skeleton pet, pet should turn into a spectre now but im guessing that is being saved till talents?)
They're hitting way harder. They've always double attacked. My level 84 necro pet is hitting around 172 or so. There was a damage cap that heavily limited their output and that was removed. I'm not really sure what you were expecting from a necro pet. Perhaps you can elaborate more because when I played all I remember them doing was their haste ability, dual wielding fine steel daggers, hitting for double 55, and that's about it. I don't even remember a spectre pet so maybe that's after my time or I just don't remember anyone using that. Could be a cool idea though.

Magician pets do have more abilities for what it's worth. Talentable pet skills is definitely an idea with potential.

Couldn't the 44 necro pet (pet level 37), and all later warrior based skeletons, life tap? You could also give them interrupts like kick, which was also in live.

Hmmm, since we are brainstorming ways to make pets more than just fear sponges, maybe they should boost our run chance? Minor, but they actually did have this functionality in live.

Well, they sort of do help you escape by buying you a ton of time and soaking a ton of damage. Obviously the mechanics are completely different, but... yeah.

It looks like this is all based on old world? If so that would make the lack of spectre pets make sense. Kunark lvl 60 pet was the first spec. Necro pets did kick and lifetap but they were still little more than a super efficient DoT. Not sure why you want them to be more than that.

So while we're brainstorming...

I'd like the SK class to be less mediocre and boring at the high end. The pet is a glorified DoT. The actual DoT's are absolutely awful and barely worth the time to cast. Melee DPS is mediocre at best. The best attack is slam, which is reliant on using a shield and which you end up saving for interrupt because that's more valuable than the damage.

Gasping Frenzy is a couple extra attacks every 20 seconds. Escalates damage based on having lower health. You try having lower health on an SK in any controlled fashion when it matters. Spoiler alert, you absolutely can not.

Cleave is cute as a primary attack, but the difference between Cleave with a good 1H and 2H is basically negligible. Minimum damage doesn't even change. And Cleave being the only AE attack adds up to the class being absolute shit at fighting multiple targets.

Death Strike is pretty good. A nice hit from it restores half a bubble of health, and the damage it does it passable for a heal attack.

Life Tap gives you 20% if your are lucky. And takes a negligible amount of health from the mob. With a 40 second cooldown. Between this and Death Strike you can survive a long time against 2 monsters that are about your level. Anything higher and you're relying on luck.

Siphon Strength is garbage. Shadow Vortex in it's new form is cool. Loses some of it's trash appeal with the the shorter duration. but becomes must-use of important fights.

Harm touch is basically fluff to me at level 65+. It hits for less than an early crippling blow. It's a 5 minute cooldown that hits for about as much as 2 crit slams.

Sooo...yeah. As the highest SK in the game I find the class pretty underwhelming in Nightmare+. Even just grinding away on green con garbage can lead to scary moments.

If this happens again in Firefox please pull up the error log and hit ctrl+shift+J. Report any errors to me that you see under javascript. Ignore the warnings and log messages. This is some kind of weird bug that requires a specific process.
Maelfyn can you tell me how to pull up the error log? Happened again tonight. Can't get hover tooltip or interact with any items in bags or equipped on character.

I don't know if I did it right, but this is what I got when I only selected JS:

Use of getUserData() or setUserData() is deprecated. Use WeakMap or element.dataset instead. requestNotifier.js:64
Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated. Use defaultPrevented instead. jquery.min.js:5

That was from the character select screen. From the actual logged on toon where it wasn't letting me click stuff, my console box was empty for JS.

I fixed it by creating a new character, logging new char. in (still couldn't click anything), logged him out, deleted the new character, and logged in my regular character that was bugged. Had console box open whole time I did these steps and this is the JS:

I'm not sure if it helps, but I do remember when I fixed that bug for myself that it wasn't just enough to create a new character and delete it, I had to actually log it in for the bug to correct.

Yep.
1. Create new character
2. Log into new character
3. Log out and delete new character
4. Log into old (bugged) character and it should be fixed.

This comment made me try the game, LOVED EQ but will never play it again. Expected to play maybe to level 2. Started an Enchanter, found out you can med while a mob is charmed 6 hours later I was like WTF this is awesome.

Quests with need to kill random mob for item drop are about as fun as slow walking escort quests...
