If you are talking pve only then you don't need a single epic item. 8 hours to level to 60, 10 minutes to buy blue lvl 60 gear from the ah with the 2k ad you get from praying 3x, and your starter artifact will put you over 10k. You can run all but 3 dungeons which have a campaign unlock (lol, vt, mc) at 10k including tiamat and win easily. So yeah if you want you can beat this game in a single weekend and not spend a dime. this is assuming you have friends who will run you through the dungeons since gl getting a group in game with less than half the gs of an older player.

If you can find ppl to run dungeons with you, you can run dailies for a week or two and unlock some gs boons and unlock the other 3 dungeons, depending on class landing at 13-15k gs which is more than enough for pitiful amount of pve content this game has, even enough to solo some of the easier 5mans.

The game doesn't have raids or any really hard content. There is only gear progression for either pvp or ability to solo more group pve content. Not that it really matters they obsoleted all of their games content with mod 5 in their neverending effort to nerf the player players ability to earn game currency without using a cc. now you can buy a full set of the best non-artigact gear with the ad you get from a few days of dailies. The only way left to gain power is from artifacts.

The thing is, until mod 5 legendaries was the valid gear progression and you were able and expected to have them. Everyone who played before mod 5 has full legendaries. They were a realistic goal for all players to achieve. They only cost 500-1mil ad which before mod 5 was 1-2 lucky drops hence a reason to run dungeons.
The campaign stuff is flat flat out time gated isnt it? can you cash shop your away around the 1 daily/weekly stuff, etc? hrm, actually yeah, I suppose the chest do have a chance for getting the daily mats don't they?

You can cash shop a package that just full completes an entire campaign for something like 50$. You can also buy a single full day of progress from items on the in-game auction house, typically around ~45k diamonds for a days progression.

Progressing a campaign takes like 20 minutes of questing per day, so I highly recommend avoiding those purchases unless you just really, really can't wait.

Alright so I'm playing this with a rogue and a cleric. I usually roll a tank but I'm hearing you don't actually need tanks in this game, although the module next weed is changing that, maybe, or not. Anyone know what is actually going on and whether the group content is holy trinity required or not come module 6?

When you random queue for dungeons, it always fills 1 slot with a tank (guardian fighter or paladin), 1 slot with a healer (cleric or paladin) and 3 slots with dps (everyone else). If you pre-make a group, you can take whatever you want.

This game is similiar to most mmo's in that when under or properly geared for the content you're facing, you need or at least want a tank. When you progress to the point you heavily overgear the content, a tank is not needed, and can technically be called dead weight if you are wanting to optimize a speed clear.

Next module is a gear reset, new level cap, and overall sharp increase in the difficulty at end-game. Tanks will be very required for epic dungeons for a while. I predict though, over time, when everyone is level 70 and again decked out in full epics/legendaries, you can probably start overpowering dungeons again without a tank.

Tanks have never been desired or optimal at any gear level in this game. Early on they weren't really a hindrance either, but no one ever waited around for one. Once you knew the dungeon and boss mechanics they did become a hindrance. Once you were over geared many classes could solo the group content.

Early in mod 4 they experimented with boss mechanics that could basically 1 shot so that people would desire tanks more and for a month or so tanks became more desirable but they were still never strictly required and people quickly learned how to deal with bosses.

The problem with the next.mod is that its not a gear reset. If it were and had scrapped artifacts entirely for new gear from new, hard dungeons i would still be playing this game.

Any one ever bought a pack from a Gold selling site. WHy are they so much cheaper than from Arc Store?

Example
Hero of the North 30.00 (gold seller)
Game Store Same pack 199.00

I assume the 3rd party websites buy their packs with stolen CCs and resell them that cheap to raise interest and get sales. Nothing else I can think of makes any sense really.

That's pretty much how I've understood it, they use stolen credit cards, likely from previous customers. Never used a gold sale site myself, so that's just an assumption.

A neverwinter question since I can't seem to find the answer. If I buy a soulforged enchant, it says it ressurects me once per 90 seconds. Does that go off if I truly die, or even if I just get knocked unconscious. If it's only on a real death, it seems good, but if it just brings me back from unconscious and goes on cooldown, I'm not sure it's worth the price since groupmates are good about clicking downed allies.

it only resses you when "you are knocked unconscious" which is really "you are dead, you can be ressed by an ally if they drop what they are doing and come stand over you putting themselves in harms way within the next 10 seconds."

soulforge is the only armor enchant worth using for pve.

Has there been any improvement with the toolkit for players to create their own content?

I thought that would be one of the biggest selling points of the game but quickly discovered shortly after release that hardly anyone wants to do them. There were some player created dungeons that required a lot of effort to create, especially the ones with a lot of lore or story associated with them, but no one wanted to run them because they took too long to complete plus the loot rewards were heavily restricted. The only player made dungeons people were willing to run were the shorter ones that you could complete in 15 minutes that gave you credit for the daily quest.

You pretty much already said the problem: the rewards. I've run a few of the player quests, a couple of which were of excellent quality. The problem is that you can spend 30-75 minutes doing a really interesting player quest, at the end of which you reward is... a green trash item.

The reason the loot from foundry quests is so garbage is that early on people would make basically long hallways filled with easy to kill mobs and pretty much exploit the system for fast, easy loot. Their response was to take away nearly all rewards from player generated content, which means most of the userbase just ignores that feature. It's a shame.

That feature would have benefited immensely from one or two paid GMs who 'policed' the player made dungeons, maybe picked a few well made ones and hand placed some real loot into them. I still think that is the only way to do player made content - it only works when you have someone assigned to keep an eye on it, separate the wheat from the chaff, and then put/allow rewards that make the ones worth doing actually worth doing.

In a game with a large enough user base you could potentially automate that - EVE adjust mission payouts to a degree, based on data collected from people doing the mission. Of course you need enough players for data and safeguards against exploitations, but it's not impossible.

Anyone know if the xbox one version is starting from scratch, or using your existing account?
Pretty sure it's a fresh start. I read an interview that they are staggering the release of the current end game content to the console players which means they are keeping the xbox patched spereately. Possibly due to the patch approval crap that needs to occur on xbox?

Did a Foundry quest inspired by EQ1 Befallen. It was good for a couple laughs, but long as fuck.

Edit: On a somewhat related note, the dungeons so far (only level 22) have been pretty underwhelming. I understand there's more than just the first two dungeons, but wasn't someone praising NW for its dungeons?

You might be thinking me but that would be DDO, not neverwinter. DDO I can't stop slobbering on it's massive dungeon design cock. NW's dungeons so far have been fairly ho-hum. 7 corridors with the same elite+3 trash packs every hallway then a boss you hold down attack on and a "Don't stand in the red thing" field that you stand in anyways and just chug a potion through.
