I probably rushed through it because I started playing way too late last night to give a shit about anything. I'll give it another go today.

I've certainly seen more, I mean. More heads, face, hair styles etc.
Hair color, skin color etc. Its not revolutionary. (save maybe you can make fat females)
but its not DCUO either.

Game is surprisingly fun...and I'm not sure exactly why.It almost has everything I despise about an MMO: Class based, instanced zones, completely on rails, frozen in place when attacking, buggy/confusing quest tracker, a line of pixy dust that guides you directly to where you are suppose to go for every quest. I should hate this game...but I don't exactly. Maybe cus it's free and I know I will be done with it in less then a week that it makes the game easier to swallow. If you like this game, you would LOVE TERA. They did everything this game tried to do but did it 10x better. Anyways, its a fun little clunky "MMO" to play if you want to waste some time, nothing more. I enjoy it for what it is none the less.
This is how I feel. I'm a GWF (apparently the gimp class) but i am having fun screwing around with my sprint, leap, and ae attacks. I've been playing a couple of hours and enjoying it, it's free so why not.

That is just the magic of realistic expectations. I doubt many people went into this thinking this was going to be The Next Big ThingT. So you can enjoy it for what it is and move on. This is going to be a short stopping point for most people here I imagine. Few weeks to a few months of fun while waiting for TESO, or Wildstar etc.

The Foundry is going to make it so I don't uninstall the game in a few weeks though. Player created content really interests me and I'll probably check out what is available on the Foundry from time to time. This may not be a AAA MMO, but that one feature is going to end up giving this game a retarded amount of content and seeing as it's free that is a pretty damn good deal.

I will say, while I'm unhappy with the translation of 4e they did and the "actionyness" of the game, considering we just did a 10-level table top game of the "new" Neverwinter book, it is kind of neat to see the same place and people visually.

This is such a discount product, hah. Just saw a "definatley" in one of those mid-screen quest text pop-ups, and it wasn't in player-created content. It may seem small, but it's shit like this that really tells me something about the people who made the game. If not even your quest writers can spell and nobody double-checks the work before implementation, what kind of standard can you even expect?

There's two good things about Neverwinter: the controls and the leveling content. The action RPG controls are very nice and refreshing, and I really like the many little solo instances that you get while leveling. These are the two things that are good about the game. I also find that it's the only two things that aren't violently terrible.

Tasteless cash grab aside, the gameplay itself is a mess. You can't tank properly, you don't need a healer until the very last tier of content, there's nothing beyond 5-mans, there's little to no control over what people are able to actually create and publish in the Foundry, and the game has many gaping flaws such as the ability to roll need on everything, the lack of measures to prevent AFKing in PvP, and the absence of a solution to leavers in dungeons. The list goes on, almost nothing is actually well-made. These things were solved half a dozen years ago, and recreating the problems in a 2013 MMORPG is just unacceptable.

All in all, it plays like a game made by people who had never tried MMORPGs but had read about them and knew a bit about action RPGs. As such, it's alright in the areas where it tries to be an action RPG and hopeless wherever it tries to be an MMORPG. The economic aspect just makes a bad product frustrating and taints everything even more.

where do these giant assholes come from?
With all these AAA mmos that come out with utterly broken features, banks that dont work, Auction houses not working. UI's that cant scale, get moved, etc. unfinished games. we get a budget mmo that has all these features working. and they bitch?
tasteless cash grab. good thing its fucking free.

anyway, the $60 founders pack is probably worth it for anyone thinking about it. you get 60k or 60k? whichever.. AD, a nice mount for all your alts, a weapon that will make you OP till level 17, and a nice dps pet/companion, which will last most of the game.
I find it hard to imagine not feeling like you got your monies worth at that price. $200 pack.. yeah. pushing it...

The zen store is meh. not the best, not the worst I have seen. Its not nearly as bad as champions online which crippled the game.

I am kindof digging the stealth mechanic in this game for fun factor. not really sure where I place it for balance yet.

for those that don't play a rogue, it might help you fight them..
stealth at base has a limited duration. about 10s at first.

now, using at will powers, does NOT break stealth for the rogue. In fact, dealing damage INCREASES stealth duration.
Then at the same time, taking damage DOES reduce the stealth duration. take too much, and you get unstealthed.
the rogue can not stealth again, until the stealth bar fills all the way back up. and again, taking damage will prevent that.
At-will powers do not break stealth, however, encounter powers will.
So there is a nice game of do I auto attack and stay stealthed or do I use my encounter powers?

flanking and combat advantage. A rogue gets their charisma damage bonus when flanking. +6-10% damagish, higher with specific feats/gear. When stealthed its 360 flanking. (daze as well gives 360 flanking)

Various encounter and class powers can have different effects. theres a feat that gives+6% damage for 6s after stealth, another that gives +15% damage on skill out of stealth. a +20% stealth duration, a +90% reduction to damage vs stealth.(most rogues will use this one, as it reduces how much your damage impacts their stealthing) some encounter powers that refill stealth, or put you directly into stealth.

Another big thing to watch for, is lurkers daily. most rogues will slot this, as it pretty much wrecks all the other dailys.
it greatly increases stealth regen, thus allowing a rogue to stealth and stat stealthed for about 30s even under attack. And at the same time increases damage by 20/40/60%. This will basically kill the shit out of you. Not really even sure of how to defend vs it. It lasts a good 20s itself. so even a CC wont really outlast it.

The PVP is pretty fun. The foundry is absolutely broken: just did one that consisted of nothing more than hundreds of ogres trapped in a little box that couldn't path out of it. AE'd them down over about 10 minutes, made two levels, 28->30, and about 2 gold. I could easily hit 60 in a day repeating that foundry quest.

Yeah, I'd imagine people are making XP farm quests but they can be reported and then removed from the foundry because they are basically useless.

Oh wow that sounds so exploity lol, the one I've been doing had the ogres actually running around so it was at least slightly dangerous(but not really as a CW, can kite them easily since their attacks are super slow other than their punch which doesn't do a whole lot of dmg). What's the name of it? I might just aoe grind my CW to 60 in case they decide to nerf foundry xp or some shit.

Rerolled a Guardian(well technically rerolled a priest a GWF and a guardian), it's insane how fast the queues are as a tank. Think longest I had was 20seconds. I also quite like it, other than the animation for moving around in combat(but then again all of them are horrible).

One question btw, anyone knows if there's a way to remove the sticky targetting? When I'm trying to cleave mobs, it won't let me cleave between mobs, it automatically picks one of the target and center the cleave on it, which makes it impossible to cleave that well, and for example it's super rare to hit 2 ogres next to each other since they have big models.

After playing for a few hours and checking out the shops..this game is not as much P2W as past PW games have been. I will admit the foundry is pretty bad ass...someone made a Spartacus adventure and it was pretty dam fun...

There is currently one big P2W thing, which might or might not be nerfed. Epic enchants, which can be gotten from lockboxes(with bought keys) or fused from endgame shards with a low % chance(or a 100% with cash items) are way way overpowered. You can however get them the normal way, but you'll need to be a bit lucky and shit. Now at the same time, you also need to take into account that nothing in this game is particularily hard, so having a large advantage doesn't really make you win anything, since there isn't any raiding and shit. I guess PvP but PvP is so broken anyway(at higher levels, it's actually decent at lower lvls, unless you're a GWF).

And fuck the maintenance, but I guess maybe the servers won't crash today if they take them down first!

Not sure why really, but I find this game really fun. Dicked off with it today for a few hours as a rogue... controls aren't as tight as they should be, but I dig being able to solo enter the instanced levels and just mindlessly kill shit. See no reason to spend any dough (yet), but I see tons of people rolling around w/ $40 mounts. As is the case with anything, perception is the key to enjoyment. If I plomped down $60 on this, I'd be fucking annoyed with a lot of stuff - knowing that I haven't (and won't) ever spend a penny, I let pretty much everything slide and enjoy it for what it is.

I've been playing with 2 friends and since we log on/off at different times we end up sharing quests out of the normal progression in zones. That screws with Knox giving quests for the next zone. Does anyone know if those Knox quests sending you to the next zone are even necessary to start questing there? Basically we're trying to figure out if you can skip quests and start where the other people are without having to do the entire quest progression for someone. Two of us just finished the graveyard and are going to Helms road or whatever, but the other dude has to redo a shit ton of quests that we already did because he was going off of where we were. Will he have an issue just starting fresh in that next zone or will shit get jacked with Knox and he'll eventually have to do everything over?
