I think they are reluctant to add a 2nd server because of the rulesets, voting, and the inevitable server merge. For instance..
Let's say Ragefire downs raid content after 30 days and votes to move to Kunark. Then, let's say that Lockjaw downs all raid content after 45 days and votes to stay classic for 6 months. Now, let's say Ragefire downs Kunark content after 45 days and votes to move to Velious. How do you merge these servers? Do the people who are on Lockjaw just get told to "deal with it"?

It's six months after raid content completion until the vote happens....
6 months to Kunark
1 year to Velious
1.5 years to Luclin
2 years to PoP
It will take a total outrage from everyone when the server gets slammed tonight before they consider it though. Even then they probably wont do it then lose a bunch of people over the weekend.

Getting home from work this morning, fighting to log in one character, and then being unable to get the second one through is the last that my spirit can take. It makes more sense for me to wait to see if a second server shows up than it does trying to brute force my way through Ragefire.
I put a bunch of time in thinking about what I was going to do and tracking things down and the game itself just doesn't work.

Yea I still cant get in either. After spending the last 10 minutes spam clicking the button I've given up and I'm hoping for a second server also.
Yea I managed to get all my names saved on Ragefire last night, but I'm not going the entire weekend of brute-forcing my way into Ragefire. Going to wait for a second server or just say fuck it and go back to playing on Live.

Is that how it works? It's 6 months after raid content is downed until a vote happens to move on?
I must've misinterpreted it. I thought the vote kicked off after all raid content was downed. Then, you either voted to move to the next expansion early or you wait out the remainder of the 6 months.
How many subs have been paid in the last 3 days? What is the capacity of the ragefire server? if #1 is > #2, fucking do something. This is literally easier than 1st grade math. "creeping" up the maximum capacity is going to do absolutely nothing, much like all their other worthless servers that have populations of < 200 players, oh there's an idea :\ I can't blame daybreak, who would want to work for a dying company except the most inept people in the industry.
It was always pretty obvious that this was a cash grab from DBG, but their reluctance to open an additional server really screams "We're too fucking broke to afford additional hardware."

No, the vote is at the end of the 6 months, as to whether or not to keep it open for another 2 weeks, or move on. The vote only can extend it by 2 weeks before another vote happens.
Everyone voted for "max" nostalgia, so there's no moving early.
