Seriously? The Niners might have gotten rid of Harbaugh to be trying for Josh McDaniels? Rofl, what?
I look forward to him trading Kaepernick and Boldin and drafting Winston in the first round only to have him gone from the nfl before his first contract expires.

So will the 49'ers go back to being a dumpster team without Harbaugh? Before he came in they had been trash for years. Seems silly to get rid of your winning head coach over personal shit.

Cowboys fans suffered 2 decades because of personal shit, who the fuck fires a HC who wins back to back Super Bowls.

I bet if you insulted your boss on a consistent basis, you'd get fired too. No matter how good you were at your job.

No man should have to put up with the mean-spirited humiliation Jimmy often inflicted on Jerry in front of front-office staffers, assistant coaches and players. Jimmy all but dared Jerry to fire him, and after they won their second Super Bowl together, following the 1993 season, one final insult at a restaurant finally sent Jerry over the edge. He fired the coach who had won two straight Super Bowls and who, to the NFL world, appeared poised to win two or three more.

It's more than just "personal shit", honestly. Harbaugh is extremely grating and difficult to get along with. His sideline antics are testament to what a fucking loon he must be. There's also the fact that his coaching tenures don't last very long (and it's becoming obvious why. Nobody can stand working with him). Your winning percentage doesn't absolve you from creating a toxic work environment, sorry. Also, there are rumors that Baalke approached Harbaugh at the end of last season to fire Roman and Harbaugh refused. York and Baalke apparently met with Harbaugh again shortly before the draft and told him that Roman had to go or extension talks were off. Again, Harbaugh refused. The one area Baalke doesn't have "say" over Harbaugh is Harbaugh's staff. Apparently, he would've been offered a 7.5m dollar extension had he agreed to change OCs.

That said, there's plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. Way more than should be allowed by an 8-8 team. We were stricken pretty hard with the injury bug this year (I think 17 players were put on IR?), but the defense was still playing at a very high level. Sadly, the offense just never took off. The schemes were completely predictable and once defenses adjusted at half-time to close off the inside running plays, they just stacked the line with 8 and dared Kaep to throw. The offensive line did him no favors since they were one of the hardest hit by injuries, Boone's holdout, receivers not getting separation, etc., but Kaep was also struggling with knowing when to get rid of it and not take a sack. He also seemed to be afraid of using his legs to salvage broken plays, sitting in the pocket trying to find an open receiver. Often times even when he had clear running lanes. It's anybody's guess as to why he did this, but it seemed like somebody was in his head telling him not to run under any circumstance.

So, assuming we retain Fangio at DC, I think there are a number of coaches who can come in here and see success. I don't have Super Bowl aspirations or anything next year, but I see no reason why we couldn't be right in the mix for the playoffs.

Yeah, you don't insult the owner and expect that shit not to have some consequences. Jimmy was wholly unable to function in a salary cap though, as was Jerry for a long long time. In some ways he still can't but by and large the money is handled by Stephen these days so it's better.

Harbaugh probably wasn't as bad as Jimmy was on ownership, but he suffered from the same hubris, not understanding where his paychecks are coming from and who's really in charge. Coupled with a lack of a championship and this year's nearly complete meltdown of the team in general, it was probably inevitable. Very few College coaches actually succeed for reasons such as this, we see it over and over again. I think the only reason Pete Carroll has been successful is because he's smart enough to know where the line is drawn after his previous run in the NFL before going to college. He's not a college guy that went to the NFL, he's an NFL guy who went to college.

Well when it comes to football he should have dealt with it. Just ignore and get a ton of rings...that is all that matters in the NFL anyway. I can't imagine Johnson has changed that much and for him to be a broadcaster I dunno, I would assume they wouldn't put up with his shit if that was true. Then again who knows.

edit- Let me ask this as well, realistically, if you just let a HC run a team how often do you really have to see him? Just avoid him. Also the more I think about it now, I think the only situation where if I was the owner I wouldn't deal with it is if people were on the verge of leaving/quitting that were making your team successful. Again, I think I default to who knows really as they both have big egos.

3 NFC title games and 1 Superbowl is not a good record in 4 years. Just ask Kirun. I look forward to them being garbage for years and the bitch of the NFC West.

Everyone must be creaming their pants over the advertising dollars for this year. Cowboys and Green Bay in for the NFC. And in the AFC holy shit, Pitts/Balt, likely Luck/Manning and Manning/Brady. The media will be so insufferable, glad I stopped watching sports TV "news".

49ers fired George Seifert after going 12-4 in his last season, and only 2 years removed from winning the Super Bowl. That franchise has some issues.
