I suppose the part that I was overlooking is the now available video. That is obviously the reason all this is going down. My initial thought is how do you do anything to somebody that hasn't technically done anything but the video throws all that shit out the window.

Is it really a surprise to see a high profile employer drop a high profile employee for something like this? People get fired and suspended all the time for doing stupid shit. This is no different. It has nothing to do with the Law.
But NFL players have a union and a CBA. There are rules for violations like this. Hell, the 6 week suspension for a first offense was just passed what, not even two weeks ago?

I hope this gets Goodell fired, fuck him, seriously fuck that gigantic fucking douche bag right in the ass. I wish someone in the NFL would spear him and sever his spinal cord. I've had this opinion of Goodell before this shit with Ray Rice, I hope there is a double jeopardy rule in the CBA and Ray Rice sues the NFL and wins just to fuck with Goodell and anything that helps get him fired.

Repost from IRC. Just making sure I have this on record:

[15:59] <Adam12> Mathews will fumble in the redzone at least once, probably twice
[16:00] <Adam12> Rivers will look great until the 4q when he throws some crazy pick-6 after driving all the way down the field to win the game
[16:00] <Adam12> lolspecialteams will rear its ugly head
[16:00] <Adam12> Chargers lose by 3 in a game they otherwise dominate

Sounds about right. But I really hope Mathews doesn't fumble.

Under the CBA the players union only gets to approve fines for on-field conduct. As far as I can tell penalties for off-field conduct are completely at the discretion of the commissioner. The new domestic violence policy was unilaterally enacted by Goodell, and I don't see anything to indicate he can't hand down a harsher penalty if he wishes. The most Rice can do is file an appeal, and I can't imagine him winning.

There's no issue with double jeopardy either. All the CBA has to say on the issue is that a player can't be disciplined by both the commissioner and his team. The commissioners action supersedes any club action. There's nothing in there to prevent the commissioner from increasing an existing penalty if new information emerges.

When it comes to any union issues, NFL will claim (probably legitimately) that Rice's explanation differed from the video evidence and use lying as the core (legal) reason for the indefinite suspension.

Except there is most likely a written record of what was said by Ray Rice when he talked to the commissioner. Not to mention his union rep would have been there so at this point we're probably past he said she said crap.

Rivers is going to dominate so much that humanity will look to him for guidance and under his example will usher in a golden age where mankind wears bola's everywhere and The God Emperor Rivers leads humanity to the stars conquering countless worlds and spreading the human race across the universe.

Peter King was too busy scrubbing his website for usage of "Redskins" to make sure he was keeping the league's story straight. Oops.
Even as a writer for the NFL, I'd try to scrub my site for any mention of that team too. Amazing how quickly things have changed since they drafted RG. Is there a worse division in football? Cowboys look 4-12ish, skins maybe 6-10, same for G-men, and one bright spot in Chip Kelly. Imagine if Reid was still there to make the entire division look like the '08 NFC West?

Why are we not spending more time insulting the organization full of human garbage that is the Ravens? The same week we get hard evidence that they were hardcore supporting a horrible piece of shit they unveiled a statue to an even bigger piece of shit. Both piece of shit were HEROES to the organization and fanbase.

Ray Rice draws standing ovation from Baltimore Ravens fans - baltimoresun.com

Standing. Ovation. And their strongest possible defense "Well we only thought the 240lb guy pushed his fiance so hard that she got knocked out!"

I hear Fammaden gave him a handjob. Not for any gay reasons, just to show solidarity.

To be fair thats kinda bullshit. They were already standing and cheering when the guys before him were running out and all of a sudden they were all supposed to realize it was Ray Rice coming out and immediately sit down and be quiet for the next 30 seconds?

At least their quarterback didn't rape anyone. Twice.

This however is more relevant.

Ravens fans cheer Ray Rice at open practice | ProFootballTalk

The Ravens had an open practice at their home stadium on Monday night, and Rice heard loud cheers from the fans in attendance. Rice was twice shown on the big screen, and both times he got enthusiastic ovations, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. Rice tapped his chest to show his appreciation as he soaked in the applause.

Many fans wore Rice jerseys, and several Rice jerseys were spotted on women and children.
