Kubiak going from one offense in game managing QB, Schaub, to another with Flacco. Have fun with that Ravens fan.

The thing with Shanahan the younger is that if he did well here he'd be a prime candidate for poaching, he probably wants to be a HC once someone is willing to give him a job. I don't see Kubiak getting as many offers as quickly.

Dolphins hire Dennis Hickey as GM

The thing that depresses me is not the fact that we hired some schmuck who wasnt even considered for the GM spot in his own organization.

It's the fact no one wanted to work for the Dolphins.
Hickey's hiring came after the Dolphins were rejected by several candidates. Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio and Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson turned down job offers, and Browns assistant general manager Ray Farmer withdrew from consideration Thursday.

Several others declined invitations to interview as a replacement for Jeff Ireland, whose six-year stint as general manager ended Jan. 7 when he and Ross agreed to part ways.

Any room on the Ravens bandwagon?

People are avoiding Cleveland like the fucking plague too, so that's pretty bad. Which is good because they tried to get Kubiak to be HC and he turned them down, so now we got a division rival's would-be HC candidate as our OC. I guess it makes sense, they gave Chudinski one fucking season and its out the door. Who wants to walk into that shit show?

I was leaning towards Arizona myself, although I've stuck it out this long I guess I can see how bad it gets. Glad we picked up some more talent at QB to squander.

I think the Browns and Dolphins situations are a result of their ownership. I'm probably being Capt. Obvious. I was pretty surprised that Chud got axed after a year: is that a symptom of Haslam's other issues coming in to fuck the Browns?

And who really wants to inherit the situation in Miami? Geezus.

What I've seen about the Miami job is that the owner basically said that decision was already made to keep Philbin through 2015 or something. Whether or not the new guy wanted to clean house immediately it'd be harder to find a highly sought after GM that will accept a situation where the head coach doesn't answer to him. What owner would still believe that giving anyone, a coach or player, a batphone to ownership would attract a quality GM candidate? Who wants to walk in and have a power struggle on the first day?

I guess I can answer my own question..of course owners with long records of losing like Dan Snyder and Stephen Ross are still around to do just that.

If they weren't a division rival and based in a shitty city, I would feel bad for the Browns. Firing Chud was one of the biggest mistakes that organization could have made. I wonder if the Lombardis have learned their lesson or if they'll keep the Factory running clean and smooth.

That's it to an extent, Miami's front office is setup in an absolutely moronic fashion. The GM basically has 0 control over the roster, roster moves, and contracts. All of that is delegated to random people like Dawn Aponte, who arguably they should have just made the GM. But of course Miami doesn't want a woman as their GM. The final say for coaching staff is from Stephen Ross, the final say for player decisions is Philbin, Philbin hires the coaching staff, Aponte handles the contracts. Essentially Hickey is just a glorified scout. He finds talent and then suggests to Philbin that they bring them to the team and then Aponte deals with their contracts.

It's a huge cluster fuck and I've resigned to the fact that we'll never be good.

But hey, they did just hire Benton for our OL. So there might be a chance.

I know the Dolphins have been long in the gutter but its surprising to me no one wanted to job. At least from my cheap seats it seems they were at least on the way up even if they had some way to go. Personally i think Philbin will do just fine if not with the fins but somewhere else when the contract is up and at a minimum the position would be a decent stepping stone with plenty of "well everyone knows my hands were tied there" when the inevitable move to a new organization happens.
