There are a number of expos?s coming out about how the NFL is fucking over SF by having all their festivities in SF proper while the game is being played all the way down in Santa Clara. Santa Clara is the only one getting any money from the NFL and SF is footing the bill for Super Bowl City (which is fucking lame - I went on Monday) and the closure of Market St which is the most major road in the city for over a week. Public transit is fucked, traffic is fucked, shit looks scaryAF because there are guards armed with assault rifles everywhere. It's a debacle here right now.

I doubt it's fair to say the NFL is fucking SF. If that's what's happening it's because San Fran's super bowl bid committee set it up that way.

BTW, who's stadium are they playing in? I thought it was the 49'ers stadium, but you're making ti sound like some place completely different.

The 49ers stadium is nowhere close to SF. It's in Santa Clara which is much closer to San Jose. It usually takes over an hour to drive there from SF.

And yeah, Ed Lee, the mayor, is probably largely responsible for this mess.

This is also why the Raiders were blocked from moving forward with negotiations with San Jose. Since SF stadium is just north of SJ they're claiming ownership over that area.

I'm not sure if I ever really heard a good answer on why it was put there. I'm sure it comes down to cost and it was the best spot while remaining close-ish to the city. But like the Atlanta stadiums moving to the suburbs I understand their logic and I'm sure SF had their reasons I just never heard them.

Might try to look it up and see what the explanation was for it. Definitely couldn't put the Raiders in San Jose if they're that close.
